Opinions? A friend bought one in CF, the CF was badly flaking and chipped and the blade far from sharp. He was very disappointed.

No issues with the CF it's as good as the first run.
As far as sharp goes it was good usable with no burrs. That is all you can or should expect from a factory edge. They get it 80% right and I'll finish it to my standards.
A factory can't win with edges, if they sharpen to 20 DPS, someone will call it obtuse. If they go 17 DPS someone will complain it has no micro bevel. If they and on and on it goes.

Mine measured .016 behind the edge, that's excellent. I'll finish it when I get a chance.

Isnt that the truth. I really do not understand all the whining I hear across the forums about factory edges. I remember when almost all knives came with edges not much better than chisels. The factory edges are so much better than they use to be I really dont understand the droning on and on about the factory edges today. Glad yours are good Dean. Did They use M390 on the Shuffler also?

I could offer an explanation right or wrong but it might aggravate a few so I won't.
If a factory raised their prices by $20 so they could offset the labor cost of the perfect edge. People would really complain then.
