I got a new medium stockman in the mail today and after adjusting the kicks on the secondary blades (sheepsfoot and punch) it went straight into my pocket.

The blades on my Churchill were getting spotty looking so I gave them a cider vinegar patina.

I'm not a fan of spotty either.
I've used warm apple cider vinegar to darken then up and then NEVR-Dull to go back to a more even light grey.

Thinking of adding a couple-more traditionals to the roster.  I want a Schatt & Morgan and have been errant in adding-one to the collection.  But it's always the age-old battle of money versus knives! ???

It's the best thing to do for a carbon user, IMO, and makes maintenance so much easier.  As Dean mentioned, once you have that base you can easily polish out the darker bits later but you still don't have to mess with rust, dark spots and pitting.  I use Simichrome polish on mine.

That Tidioute looks great with the patina!
