I decided on the UN-X-LD Northfield:

"Those who do evil to others:  the killers, the rapists, psychos, sadists.  Will come to know me well.  Frank Castle is dead!  Call me . . . The Punisher."

"Out of the night comes a man who saves lives at the risk of his own:
Once a circus performer, an aerialist who refused the net...
Once a cat burglar, a master among jewel thieves...
And now, a professional bodyguard - primitive, savage, in love with danger."  - T.H.E CAT

Decided to polish out the blades on my American Jack. For what they cost you would think that GEC could polish them instead of what they call a satin finish which is basically fine sanding marks.

Like it a lot better this way   :tu:

Looks nice.    :like:       But I like the satin better.

GEC's Tidioute line is their basic line of knives thats why they are satin finished. GEC's Northfield line usually have more fancy stuff like mirror finish, coined or pinched bolster, long pulls, better F&F, etched blades, swedges, etc.. They also cost more.     :)

Thanks, Steve!  Old school 'traditional' still rocks!  I would like to see a list of member's favorite vendors for traditional blades.  I'm familiar with most of the 'major players' on the scene, but who knows? :salute:

Yes you may  ;)

I started by hand sanding perpendicular to the factory sanding lines with 400 wet paper then 800,1000, 1200 and finished with some dry worn out 1200 grit.

I was going to buff it on my bench grinder and some rouge but it's as shiny as I want it   :tu:

I'll have to try that method some day.
Shiny will still patina if you want it to but it does smooth the surface and I think that helps keep moisture from sticking as much. Slows the chance of accidental rust
