Out of curiosity....

What do you Traditional fans think of the BM Proper?

I'll confess to being drawn to some classic design with some modern materials. Not inexpensive, but I'm still tempted...... Thoughts? Experience? Watch y'awl say?

I got to handle one a while back, seems well built and Comfortable.

Nice knife I just didn't care for the saber ground blade.

That Proper has kind of an awkward look to the design. Like the blade doesn't match the handle or something

Interesting knife. But not interesting enough to convince me to buy one. Not yet anyway.

The Proper is one of those knives die hard traditionalist won't like, it's a slip joint but it is not a traditional pattern. That doesn't bother me but I'm weird like that. As long as it cuts well and fits my hand, I'll get along with it.

My only complaint with it is the blade grind, the Proper is a small knife aka under 4” and small knives should cut well. That's where Benchmade blew it with the Proper. The one I got to play with was .026” behind the edge, combined with a saber grind. When you put those two things together the Proper is not a good cutting knife.
It works for meat, rope and material that pulls away from the blade.
Use it for cardboard, reinforced hose or similar stiff material and it requires noticeably more effort to push cut thru materials like that.

If Benchmade would flat grind the blade, it would serve well as something like a modern version of the sodbuster.

Some great blades guys :dd:

The Proper also doesn't do it for me as a trad either ??? guess some of the other points given were similar in my mind before I even read them  but I have never had one in hand so I can only go with what the other guys said :salute:
