Makes them special I suppose and that you've got to grab them when you get the chance... if you find one you really like.

The thing about them going into military service is how many were used, abused and thrown away by their owners because there were so many.

Case 6392

Nice stockman, is that a new one ?    :like: :tu:

Yup. The tang stamp is a Case XX which is 1940-1964. I put a bid on it not really thinking I'd win it but did. Its still a good working knife. Good strong springs and snaps open and closing with authority I haven't pursued Case to much as I got burnt out on them in the late 80's and 90's with some of the poor quality coming out back then. Back then Case was almost the only knife I would buy. The quality of my 8 dot 6392 I carried for years had been lost at that time. It was a hard pill to swallow at the time and took me a long time to get over. Now a days the older Case knives command such high prices and there are so many counterfeits out there one has to be careful not to get burnt. I had the big dogs over a AAPK look it over and they gave it a clean bill of health. I feel blessed to have found this one at a decent price.  :)
