The oldest knife I've owned from new, which I reckon I've had for 28 years. There's no makers mark on it, but I do know it came from the workshop at Kelham Island Industrial Museum, and the blade looks hand forged rather than stamped, so I'm guessing it's by Stan Shaw. One of his regular user knives, rather than one of his fancy collectible showpieces.

There were two which he gave to a friend of mine, who was working in the industry at the time. I don't think he (Stan?) was entirely happy with them, so he didn't put his name on them, and gave them away rather than sell them. My friend passed this one on to me, and it's been a damn good working knife. Not the prettiest knife in the world, but a good solid user. I need to cut the relief notch a little deeper now, as it's almost all been sharpened away, and it'll start developing a smile towards the tang soon if I don't.

Last time I saw him, I did ask my friend who worked in the trade, if he could remember the name of the guy who was in Kelham Island at the time, but he'd forgot. I don't expect I'll ever know for certain, but that won't affect the knife's performance, or lesson the work its put in over the last three decades :D I'm always more concerned with what a tool can do for me, than what name might be written on it anyway.  ;)

A matched set,  8)

 8) knife  :tu: :tu:
Buffalo Jack

It reminds me of the old Remington bullet knives but a much nicer knife I'm sure.  :tu: :tu:

The distressed sheath is a Case and fits the Maserin Plow perfectly. As a bonus it also fits the GEC Bullnose.
The buck sheath I bought last year but it didn't fit as planned. I forced a Queen Country Cousin into it and let it stretch for some months.
(forgot about it)
Anyway it fits the Lionsteel barlows now.  :D
