Case took their sweet time sending this......  Impatient much, YES.  I was torn between a few choices but I knew I wanted a Tony Bose Case.  I pulled the trigger on Sow Belly Stockman.

Bone Stag covers are pretty darn nice.  Not stag and to me don't look like it either but not bad at all.  Its a hefty trad thats made to work and that is exactly what it'll do.  I think CV would have been my first choice but it was only offered in SS which is fine by me.  After a good cleaning and some fondling I'm happy with my choice.

Thank you Case for the $75 gift card.  I'll post more pics of the blade later.  They did a good job on them.

I think I'll pop this into my pocket no slip cover and see how it develops.

Looks great to me mate. :tu:

I've just recently tried their stainless blades on my Half Whittler and I have to say I'm happy with them. Yes, I've got a thing that says Case blades "should" be CV, but if the tru-sharp is the only option it wouldn't put me off buying a pattern.

Very nice little "smoked salmon" pen! I suspect it may be celluloid, so do keep an eye on it.

I think you are likely right.  It has a tiny amount of shrinkage (or possibly never well sized on the brass liners) but has yet to burst in to flames.  :D  It's not left out in danger of heat, nor kept in an air-tight container so I think I should be OK.  :hatsoff:

I was raking through my box of trads and dug out this one.  It's one my father-in-law got as a job lot in auction years ago and give to me (also included my Swedish Barrel knife).  However it's always been a bit grotty and in need of some TLC.  Decided it was past time that happened and so got out my restoration kit and set to work.  Cleaning the "patina" off one of the tangs and I was slightly surprised to find that this is also a "foreign" made knife (a term used on German knives imported into the UK in the first half of the 20th Century).

First pic is pre-clean.  I've now got it in my head that the scales make me think of smoked salmon.  :D
Interesting knife and color.  I agree “smoked salmon” seems an appropriate name.

That's a real beauty! Is it genuine stag or BoneStag?

I got this Craftsman 95067 in today's mail. It's scruffy and will need a good cleaning, as the master blade is a tad gritty. But it's complete and solid, and cuts well. These Craftsman knives are a whole 'nother rabbit hole to fall into. I don't know who provided the blades, but the rest of it is awlmost certainly Schrade.
