When retiring at night and I clean and return that days carry to their storage, I then select my next days carry.

Good thing, received call this morning from son need help, rapid departure for me, load pockets and go.

Waiting for grandson to wake, so we can prepare for school.

Going french, going big today.
A Le Liadou in barrel oak handles, a french winegrowers working knife.

This this is by no means a tiny knife, meant to be a workhorse for the working man.

you can see how it was done in the past, by hand without wire here (french, but you can see what he does) :

Cool working knife !   :tu:

I also have a delrin Winterbottom which looks pretty good but Steves is a beauty.  Love the Oil Jacks covers.  That shield is pretty awesome too.

That French winemakers trad is a nice.  Its a big fella thats for sure.  Nice comparison pic.

Good looking Case Trapper Loop.

Thank you Aloha, Steve and Adam!

Now a question;
What is WINTERBOTTOM BONE?
I have aQueen Canoe, with this the named covers, but not sure if real or synthetic, but suspect it is real per description details when purchased.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Thank you, I had thought it to be unique type of bone, not thinking it was named for a person.

I did reexamine the specs for my one Winterbottom knife, a Queen Canoe from SMKW,

"The Queen Cutlery Winterbottom Canoe features stainless steel spear point and pen blades with match strike pulls and a smooth satin finish. The handles are Winterbottom-jigged bone with brass pins and liners, nickel silver bolsters, and a nickel silver Queen shield. It's 3.62" closed and weighs 2.9oz. "

I can now complete my day with no new pressure, as I learned something of value to me, by your reply. :hatsoff: :woohoo:

Now to search for ROGERS bone scales...

Very nice knife Gareth!  :like: :tu:

I have found the older Rough Riders to very nicely done.  The R I der models with the “I”, before the “Y”.

It is an interesting pattern as most Whittaker’s are fitted with a Clip Point, that Spear point is really a nice model.

:iagree:

Today I brought out the 61OT. I have to leave it at home if I venture out and about, but I do enjoy this one. The snap, especially on the spey blade, is unreal.

A New to me Canoe that arrived yesterday via the post.  Was having trouble determine the scale color, as in one light there is a hint of green, in another light black, definitely black, and then other times a grey appears. So I did a search via google and this comprehensive description was first I found.  From eBay Worthpoint older listing-

“ Rough Rider Canoe Armor Hide Bone Handles·440 Stainless steel blades (Spear & pen)· Bone handles·Brass pins and liners·Nickel silver bolsters and shield·3-3/4" closedArmor Hide Canoe - The ancient craftsman of a Samurai warrior's armor used all of the materials that both man & nature provided. From hand-pounded steel to the thick leather and dense durable bone of the water buffalo, the Samurai's "Armor Hide" was ultimate protection from the enemy. The methods of creating the "Armor Hide" were passed from generation to generation. The Rough Rider "Armor Hide" knives honor those traditional methods of melting man-made and natural materials to create the perfect result, and these collectible knives can be passed on from generation to generation. Canoe. 3 3/4" closed. Stainless spear and pen blades and gray "Armor Hide" bone handles with grooved nickel silver bolsters and inlay shield.·New in BoxBlade tang stamped Rough Rider. Both handles look nice. Nickel/silver bolsters. Brass Liners and Brass Pins. Inlay shield. It is well constructed the handles fit tight. Tested Sharp.Rough Rider Great Quality Knives & Exceptional Value Photo Is Representative only of the knife you will receive the handle patterns are unique to each knife. This knife has never been used & brand new. NIBThis Knife would enhance any collection.”

Armor Hide Bone is the description of the scales ? A new one I never heard before.

Here is picture of the RR1158 along side of my Case Trapper

The description pasted was taken from a sales listing on a eBay’s worthpoint page I believe, not for this knife.  I did obtain from eBay at a reasonable 11$. A Rough Rider model before the ‘Y’ was adapted.
