Looks like bone to me, but the tang says "10318." What's going on there? :think:

Aesthetically, I think the cutouts will always look a little strange to those of us who are so used to nail nicks on our trads.

Functionally, though, I can’t really tell much of a difference; i.e. the cutouts seem neither superior nor inferior to nail nicks, and the mechanics of using either are basically the same.

Not sure.  Scales are definitely bone.  Best guess is that Case made the blades (including stamping) with the original intention of using micarta or G-10 scales, but then for some reason (supply chain issues? cost?) went with bone instead.
