This arrived today and in my pocket.
I am a little under impressed with the handles, but really impressed by the 1095 blade.
I love the sheepsfoot, swedge and long pull.
And the grind is perfect, sharp, even and burr free.
The blade is a little larger than I am normally comfortable carrying being a hair’s breadth over 3” in its entirety including the tang.

On the whole a great usable knife for the £50 I paid for it.

Would these scales be called WINTERBOTTOM BONE?

I have been curious since first seeing model.

Also, how did  you determine the blade steel  chip?

There are no markings on my similar model Rosewood and  with the high polish I was thinking it to be 440 steel.

Mine came razor sharp and cuts paper near silent, indicating no burrs or edge roll in the slightest.

Hi,
I  beleive winter bottom stag bone is what queen call their stag bone

This is called India stag bone, same as though I’m sure.
The website I bought it from listed it as 1095 and in the comments in the attached video SMKW say it’s carbon when asked.

The show side pictured in my previous post I  am happy with, it’s the back side I do not think is the best.

The results are in, no staining at all so definitely stainless. I am a little annoyed as I was shopping for a carbon steel barlow.

Sorry to hear it's not quite what you wanted but I do think that's a good looking knife for the money.  :tu:

I decided I really did not like the handles so I thought I would give dying a try. I like it much better now.

Rit Tangerine powdered dye.
I wiped the knife down with white spirits to remove any oil or grease. Once dry I put a tea spoon of powder in a mug , topped it up high enough to cover the handles with boiling water, stirred and put in the knife blade opened. Left it for 20 mins before taking it out.
Then left it for ten minutes to cool before rinsing under the tap, drying and flushing with mineral oil.

I don’t think the dye penetrates very deep in to the bone so will be interesting to see how it wears.

Just used a dab of autosol on a cloth to fade it into the bolsters.
I am really pleased with now
