Picked up and worked on the one below the axe head today  >:D

(Image removed from quote.)

Here it is in a jar of vinegar  ;)

(Image removed from quote.)

Tony what is that knife in the bottom of the second picture with the curved blade and saw blade?

Glad you had a good time David  :salute:

It's a pruning knife with a sawblade made by (I think) George Wostenholm
I have just reformed the broken off point so it's not quite as curved as it once was  ;)

https://www.eggintongroup.co.uk/history/the-history-of-george-wostenholm.html

The blade has cleaned up quite nicely on the other one now...I think it's in the queue for brass liners  :D

Kind of quite in here this morning.     :)

I blame Steve

Thanks Tony! Both of those look like nice knives. That knife with the Lambsfoot blade ought to look real nice with brass liners. Do you plan on changing the covers with some of your good stag?    :)

I think I'm going to try to solder the original bolsters on to some new brass liners, I haven't tried to do that before
Then add some stag, you know me too well  :D

Just to add the liners on both knives are rusted and damaged  ::)

Just an aside Tony, you know some of the mods I'm planning  ;) I'm not planning on soldering, just pinning. I might try to do a step-by-step walkthrough on it too for anyone wishing to follow suit (and learn from my mistakes  )

The bolsters on this one are brass so I thought I might give it a go as I like the shape of them
I am not sure how these are held on, might only be the pivot pin

Looking at that one, yes it's probably soldered, but done before the knife was assembled. The Rodgers knife I had a go at working on a while ago, which was a bag of mismatched bits that didn't even belong together, had the bolsters already soldered to the liners. If you're going to drill out the pivot and disassemble the knife to do it, you can do it with soldering of just additional pinning. Just be wary of distortion from the heat of soldering distorting the liners. If you want to discuss it further mate, gimme a shout. I'm no expert on the matter, but I've got a couple of ideas up me sleeve
