I don't have any colorful leaves here so how bout dry leaves and an old log.  :D
(Image removed from quote.)

#35? I was very tempted but I'm done with 1095 steel. Stainless only for me.

I always have a stainless on me and stainless will always be my favorite,
But.
GEC is never going to build a CPM-154 or M390 Churchill or anything else in a modern steel for that matter.
So to this knife knut it's an excuse to carry two knives.
Dean's Rule #1 - One is none and two is one.
This way I can enjoy a modern traditional like the Lionsteel Roundhead and at the same time enjoy the classics from GEC, Old Timer & Camillus.

I grew up on 1095, it's a good steel. You just have to be more careful with it than stainless.

Another guy who's also moved away from carbon here

I have two Sheffield made carbon knives that I do notwant to bewithout, and a third that never got built. It's actually a mismatch of old parts which I hope to turn into a knife myself. Those three easilly fill my carbon steel quota, and anything else needs to be stainless.

Oh, and my Vagnino Zipslip is D2, so that's 4 non-stainless folders here.

My first pocket knife was carbon too, but I can't see me buying more. I don't mind having one or two (or four ) but stainless will always be my preference.

Have you put your name down for the Shuffler? Another question if I may, have you done anything with the thickness behind the edge? I need to send mine away for thinning down.

Yep a for sure on one black C/F and one micarta Shuffler. I'm doing a little ebaying to fund them.

No on the regrind. I just went and measured both for you. I used a good calibrated micrometer and watched the dial, on both knives the anvil fell off the primary grind between .020 and .021. That's with the blades sharpened at 36 inclusive. So I leaving it as is. It will be a very long tine before it wears back far enough to re grind.

They look good and I like the clip point better than the Sheepsfoot.
But.
There's a couple features that knock it off my list. The blade is a nice thin .090 so why did they put a saber grind on it. For my uses that just increases the primary grind angle and reduces it slicing ability.
The other is S30V, I didn't like it on my BenchMade Shori so I won't take a chance on it again. It's edge doesn't seem to be as stable (micro chips) as ATS34/CM154, CPM 154, D2 or M390.

I don't know if it's S30v in general or Benchmades heat treat of it but that has been my experience with it.

Im not a big fan of S30V. I'm not against it either I'm just not a fan boy of S30V. I consider it a good steel if done right. It is prone to chipping.  Espically is the heat treat isnt done right. If I remember correctly this is one reason the S35V was developed. I remember when it came out years a go it was a big step forward. Now days there are better steels out there. Unfortunatly many still consider it the cats meow. The Spyderco Military I carry has a S30V blade. I have Spyderco Militarys with steels iI like better so why do I still carry it. Because this is one that was done right. The whole knife is sweet.    :)
