Halfway through, so I will try to post my thoughts on the PST II....

I understand that Leatherman was probably answering demands with the creation of this tool.  I really like the addition of the diamond file to the mix.  Scissors are hit or miss for me.  I do like the design in the Original Wave, but in the PST II, I kind of miss the awl.  This is largely because I always carry a Micra or a set of telecom snips at work, and any other scissors are inferior to those...not to mention that they are a little hard to deploy.  Also, I'm not a huge fan of combo blades.  I recognize that serrations have their tasks, but I rarely come across them.  Even when I do, it's not as if the PE is incapable, just not the best.  Probably the biggest complaint on the PST design is handle comfort, and that holds true here.  If you have to grip the pliers hard, it is not the most comfortable.  Not a huge issue, but after using a Wave, or even a Rebar, the discomfort is evident.  Heck, the Original Supertool is a little more comfortable.  I've also missed locking tools.  One of the first days I was carrying the PST II, I had one of the flat drivers fold up on me in use.  No damage, but annoying.  I kind of wish I had picked the Pulse to chase after this badge.

I do love the size of the PST II.  I quit carrying the MT in the horizontal holster because I noticed the tool was getting scratched (the holster was made for a PST and apparently, there are slight differences in dimensions,) and this has relegated the PST II to pocket carry.  This has not been an issue.  I think you are hard pressed to find a more capable MT in this size (without modding.)

I think the diamond file of the PST II installed into a PST would be about the perfect set up for this tool for me.  I look forward to approaching the challenges I am presented with for the rest of the challenge.  :salute:

You know you can change tools, you don't have to carry the same tool all month. It just has to be a discontinued tool  :tu:

The sheath is definitely worn, but it's still got some life to it.  I think the SAK was carried some, but used little.  I wiped off oil from some of the blades.  I'm happy for $40.  :)

Day 19:

Used the PST II at work some, but was too busy to snap a pic, but I was able to document package opening again.  This time it's some patches for my motorcycle vest.

I like this thread. The PST II is my favourite. It was my second "big" LM after I got a Sideclip and it still serves me well today. As you mentioned in an earlier thread, I don't like the stock blade either and that is the only thing I changed out.

We also need a pic of the bike and the patches... ;)

Cheers,

Pete

A new pill bottle and the cotton was stuffed so far in that I absolutely had to use something to pull it out.  PST II to the rescue!

I can get pics of the bike this evening, but it will be a bit before I get the patches on the vest.  Or would you just like to see the patches off the vest?

No worries, there is no hurry.

What sort of bike do you ride?

I mostly ride my 2016 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special.  I've had it about three months and have over 5000 miles on it.

I'm currently rebuilding/restoring a 1986 Honda Rebel 450C.

Day 21:

I was removing the rear fender from the motorcycle I am restoring, so I had to clip some wires.

I did make some progress today and got the engine back in the frame.
