Stanley Demolition Wrench

So, Stanley has a new (to me) combo tool with wrench / hammer / pry-bar, what's not to love about this

And at 14$ on Amazon it does not seem to be pricey.

I have a Stanley Fubar and I love it.  I think I could probably get some mileage out of something like that.  I think I like it.

I agree- I have the shorter Fat Max type Fubar and I wish I had gone for the longer version.

I could really see that wrench version living (at least semi permanently) in a tool box on my trailer.

Well, at least there is a chance that you can get them locally. I tried to located one of these, but no-one in Switzerland carries them.

Looks really good, but I dont get the wrench at all. They just seem to damage bolt and nut heads.

Yes. Yes they do.

Adjustable wrenches are the bane of all things.

HOWEVER, they can be used to reasonable effect in various situations, and I suppose if you're not the sort to carry a full set of ring spanners and sockets, then I guess it's better than nothing.

Part of the reason so many nuts and bolt heads are ruined by Shifters is the monkey using it - Not tightened, turned the wrong way, used on things that are torqued/locked/seized up...

We should also put it into perspective, these are DEMOLITION tools, so the integrity of those nuts and bolts are not top priority.

Saw one in a US Lowes this morning.

Built like a brick, it's heavy, but I'm not sure I'd want to use it as a hammer all THAT much. And as someone who when putting both hands on a wrench often has his right at the end, I have concerns about safety but they stem from my technique with other tools carrying over to this one.

But as a wrecking tool, oh yea. Or for helping to tighten the loose screws of the unruly.

I have done a fair amount of demolition work, and for me, there is no substitute for a dedicated crowbar. I have used these two extensively, a 15" Vaughan Superbar, and an old 30" wrecking bar. The fancy Stanley tools are interesting and maybe there are good ideas behind them, but they would not work for me in real world demolition situations, because they would not take the punishment my crowbars have endured for many years. What I use frequently with crowbars are hammers between 1 and 3 pounds depending on the situation. If you want a nail puller end on your Crescent wrench it would be ok, but I like my adjustable wrenches to have clean and narrow handles that I can fit a cheater pipe over for extra leverage, but I don't use hammers with wrenches. Also I rarely need a wrench for metal demolition, I am usually using either a reciprocating saw or an oxy-acetylene torch (again with hammers), or more often, hydraulically operated machines. I find I use wrenches more for disassembly, which I consider a different activity than demolition. Explosives are cool though?  :D Maybe the Stanley multis are cool demolition 'toys', but I won't be using them.  :salute:

Also the hammer and prybar combined kind of defeats the purpose, I mean it's not going to hammer itself...

Not as subtle as most of my other work tools, but I'm sure it will have its uses.

I think it should be called it installers wrench not a demolition wrench
After all how many times have we had to wiggle and jimmy items in to get fasteners to line up? How many times has anyone smacked a bolt with the side of a wrench or the handle of a screwdriver to get to go through a whole that's a little too snug or isn't quite an alignment; or had to pry it something with a screwdriver the to get thier fastening  points to line up. I think that's where this wrench would shine.

I have used adjustable wrenches as hammers more times than I want to admit.

I have used screwdrivers as hammers more than I want to admit.

I have used crowbar as hammers more than I want to admit.

I guess the bottom line is, I need a new hammer.
