Day 28 I carried today a newer Kissing Crane knife that I got a good deal on a couple years ago  I am thinking it is probably a Chinese made one as it doesn't say Solingen or Germany anywhere on the knife  It is a stag handled 4 blade stainless steel congress :tu: Another nice pocketable knife and of course my favorite pattern the congress :like:

Poncho you got a lot of nice Congress pattern knives. I use to have a small four bladed fighting Rooster with stag handles. Its long gone. I always wanted a large  four blade Congress but for some unknown reason have never bought one.    :)

On a side note Fighting Rooster brand was made in Lebanon Tennessee and we pass through and pick a guy up there every morning on the way to work  Also Lebanon is the birthplace or Cracker Barrel restaurant

My wife says I am full of useless information but I have no idea what she means as most of it comes in handy from time to time :D
I've spent a lotta time Chewin at Cracker Barrel, but I like the Apple Barn better!

That's somewhere I have never had the pleasure of eating yet ;) My parents have eaten there and they say it is pretty good as well :tu:

From what I recall, if it does not have the solingen stamp it is not German made. The definition of German made is very loose, by the way - finished or assembled in Germany may be more correct. However, the German connection will be emphasized, with a stamp, whereas the Chinese line sometimes just gets a sticker.

It is a bit confusing with regard to who makes what, where, who owns the company, whether it is just one company or 2 or 3.

You can also usually differentiate by looking at the box and whether it says crane or cranes (I think Cranes are the German ones)

The shield you have is the Chinese one, from what recall, similar to some that I have.

There is also an Italian Sodbuster line
Kelly: "Daddy, what makes men cheat on women?
Al : "Women!"

Day 29 I got this knife last year at a leather shop that is close to the house  It is a cheapo knife but it looked good to me so I picked it up as I was paying out for a couple things :D It is a 3 black stockman with stainless steel and a synthetic jigged bone handle :tu: The brand is Rite Edge and it was made in China :D The 2 smaller blades are a little flimsy but the main blade is as solid as any knife I own and it has a great snap on all the blades

I think I am going to go 31 days with this one cause the knife I finish with is an old 1 blade lockback and I'm not sure if it would be considered traditional but it is my very first knife and I want it to be included in this challenge :dd: :D Tomorrow is already in my pants pocket ready to head off to work with me though :tu:

Thanks guys :tu: This has been a fun thread and I have thoroughly enjoyed carrying and using several of these knives :tu: Some though only got carried as they had to great of a sentimental value to use :D I am kind of excited to carry the one I have for tomorrow as it has been a long time since I carried this one and it is sentimental but I have used it over the years as well  Not fancy as some of the others but a knife I have had most of my life :tu:

I for one have enjoyed the pictures and the stories you shared about many of the knives.

You have a great group of items to pass around to continue the lagacy!

Great job!

Day 31 Extra day :D This knife was my very first knife :dd: My dad wasn't exactly sure if he got this for me or my Pa (mother's father) got it for me  I guess he forgot after 34 years :o I was 2 years old when I got this knife :ahhh I didn't actually get to have it until I was older though ;) I do remember this knife vividly when I was a wee lad though :dd: It is a Parker Frost 1 blade lockback with stainless steel :like: I think that the handle has either a wood inlay or perhaps synthetic  It was made in Japan and has University of Tennessee Vols with a football player on it (GBO :D ) I have had a blast with this challenge and wanted to leave out with this knife but wasn't sure whether it would be considered a traditional or not :tu:

It's very much a traditional just like a Buck 110 or 503. Lock backs have been around for a very long time.
Congrats on the badge :salute: :salute:
