Come on guys you really got to start to admitting. Steel rusts. If it has any carbon in it which the swiss tools have it can rust. I really got to start a 10 step program for you guys.

No its just some brands rust a little easier then others .

What does stainless mean?

Stainless steel has a high resistant to corrosion. The steel is tempered, annealed and polished to achieve the necessary hardness and provide optimum resistance to corrosion.

If stainless steel products are not cleaned over a long period of time, aggressive substances (fruit acids, salt water etc.) are able to act on (corrode) the material.

I tried to wipe it off with paper and cotton swab but nothing came off, doesn't seem to be from something else.

I think that a toothbrush and WD40 can do it.
If not a metal brush and CLP will help a lot.
Enjoy!

Definitely. I've been using Break Free CLP recently, and I've been impressed how it will clean up an MT.

I have to admit I was lying it was rust not jelly.

I took some pics but left the camera at work, before I left though I hit the "spots" with the wire wheel
now all that is left is a little stain that serves as a reminder. :twak:

I really need to find a good, safe home for this Swiss Tool, one where it will be loved and used.

Does anyone know of such a place? ;)

Not rust, but the (alloy?) liner parts of my squatter have corroded, leaving the tool jammed up.

I can open the blades with Blast assistance, but they stick wherever you leave them, the springs have no effect.

I'm sure a quick lube bath will fix it up.

Brass liners are shmexier by far. Stupid alloy (and, uhh, salt water?)

That's how I get most of my SAKs. You should think of this less as a rusty SAK, and more as a "modding opportunity". Go on, smash it up.
I used to come here a lot.

I suppose that does limit you somewhat.

You could try begging for parts, that usually works for me.

I anoint my carbon steel SAKs with oil
will that be enough?

I didn't read the entire thread...but the teeth are the only part of the tool that isn't polished to a mirror finish, therefore more accomodating to rust.
