Is it my imagination or are there very few participants in this challenge? I ask because there are no new pictures since I posted this morning. Can we get an accounting of who is still in at this point?  We are just about at the halfway point but I'm willing to reschedule if it is a hardship for others to participate.

Day 13

This is the one of the reasons I became a backside Phillips convert. Replacing batteries in kid toys. This tool was made for this job.

Jeep the SAK of the auto world or is it SAK the Jeep of the Knife world?

Day 14
Wow it was cold last night. Something like minus 7 centigrade.
The old Hunter did its usual chores - chopping onions, slicing open food packaging - but I have a hard time taking photos while chopping stuff so I usually don't bother. Several times I have had to go looking for a proper screwdriver, and indeed a whole bunch of tools, so my Hunter has been the "wrong SAK" on a number of occasions, but nobody ever marketed the Hunter XS as a Workchamp. As a go-everywhere chunky-but-light pocket knife, this thing is great. I just love the main blade. Hard to believe but out of my 10 (?) 111mm SAKs, this is the only one with a one-handed, non-serrated blade. The non-serrated, non OH blades are OK but less fun to use, and the serrated OH blades are just wrong for many things - and I worry about one day having to sharpen the damn things. So my conclusion, at this point of a the quest, is that the Hunter XS is short on features but massive on functionality; it is so good at the few things it does, it's kind of a minimalist masterpiece.
It also looks cool.

Before there were multitools I had a single blade, lock-back knife, similar to today's Case Executive model 41, and I learned to do all sorts of things with it because it was all I had.  I twisted fence wire ends between the frame sides, or used the spine of the blade as a screw driver or put a dime between the front of the frame sides and used that as a screw driver.  I even used that slot at the front of the closed knife as a wire breaker, bending wire back and forth until it got hot and broke.  My knife then should have fallen apart from the abuse, particularly the torsion I subjected it to, but it didn't.  My point was we learn to make due with what we have and we learn to work around the limitations.  You picked a hard knife to work with but you're doing really good so far.

It's a challenge, so my Forester is repairing my multitool that I cannot actually use ;) Sorry for poor photo quality, but one can consider it as an "action picture"

Not a lot to report. Spent the day chasing a 4 yr old and 9 month old so not much knife action.

Jeep the SAK of the auto world or is it SAK the Jeep of the Knife world?

Day 15 - It's raining outside and I haven't touched my SAK. Or anyone else's.
With no new thrills to report I'll just post a picture from yesterday morning which was a lot prettier than today.

It's not cold enough to be frosty here, but the frost surely does make for a pretty picture, especially with that orange hunter pro.

Day 15

The infernal Brazilian Pepper has grown through a roll of chain link that I've been wanting to move.  This was meant to be my job for today.  Cutting the stupid weed out of the chain link, one piece at a time.  I lopped off everything above the fence roll so I had room to work and could see what I was doing.  Then I used the saw in the Outrider to cut the first branch clear of the fencing.  That's when it started to look like it might possibly, eventually, at some point later today, start raining.  I am absolutely heartbroken by this turn of the weather.  Really, I may cry.  I am seriously completely torn up inside about not being able to finish this job today, but it isn't safe to work with sharp tools in the rain.  Everybody knows that.

Day 14

Doing some cable management on a new router I got, used the flathead to full off the PVC U channel cover

Im honestly not sure why they needed to curve the flathead/cap lifter I much prefer if it was straighter.

Absolutely nothing to do for my Vic today. But my wife knitted some nice napkins that may serve as a background.
