How to sharpen a Gardener

I got a second hand Gardener some time ago and now I want to start using it.

It is sharpened on both sides but I understood they were supposed to be sharpened on one side only (like a wedge).

Does anyone know how it came from the factory?

Factory edge is a chisel grind i.e. the back of the blade is flat.
