I seem to have developed a preference for straight edged blades on my knives and tools - the obvious point and ease of sharpening suit me well.  Here's my selection so far:

I think my favourite out of them has to be the Alox Electrician - the relatively small blade on a larger body is much easier to handle, though the Pingo comes a close second (though I suppose that's not a true sheepsfoot).

Nice array there Chris  :tu:

I have a couple of Sheffield made slippies, a Case Seahorse Whittler and a modified DofE. I also have a CRKT minimalist in that style. Aside from maybe the Wave serrated blade, I don't think I have much in the way of straight edged multitool blades   :think: I've certainly not selected tools on that basis anyway

That is also my favorite type of blade as well and for much the same.reasons that you have already put :cheers: That is why I like the Congress pattern in traditional knives as you get at least 1 if not 2 blade like that :tu:

In general a blade shape I like a lot.

The knife maker where I attended a course made a modern interpretation Seax-like hunting knife while I was there, the proportions where simply perfect, and I've been completely unable to recreate it.
Even more frustrating since he marks his designs freehand with a tipp-ex pen on a sheet of Elmax  :facepalm:

I went looking for an example, check out the Bark River Bush Seax......close as I could find.

The knife I mentioned had a longer blade than the BR, and a sharper tip, but I think the trick to getting it just right is where/how the handle melds into the blade.

I'm a massive fan and supporter of straight edge blades - many of my carries and designs are sheeps and wharnies.


Occassionally, if pressed, I'll go with a Spey style blade.
