I don't have one, but like the looks of the Locksmith a lot. Unfortunately, I think it's been retired which I found very surprising.  :(

Just sent an email to Tim checking availability of the...

Locksmith
(Image removed from quote.)

and the Tradesman
(Image removed from quote.)

Not sure which one I want..the Tradesman might be a little big for pocket carry.  My OHT is fine and I think the added layer of the file on the Locksmith would hardly be noticed.

Quick question;  Is the main blade layer on the non OH knives thinner than the OH ones, or does it use the same basic locking mechanism?
The thickness on the Tradesman really isn't that bad, mine measure's about 24mm wide :)

Thanks...a 24mm = little less than an inch for us Americans :D

I think I'll get the Tradesman over the Locksmith...I like the end mounted Phillips and the corkscrew (more for the eyeglass screwdriver I'll put in it).

Does the bottle opener on the Tradesman click at 45 degrees like on the OHT?  I always liked that feature on my SAKs..

Here's a cool video review of the Tradesman;

After seeing it though I realize it might be too big to pocket carry, so I'm back on the lookout for a Locksmith :D

I like the end mounted Phillips of the Tradesman, but don't really need the pliers, so it wasn't worth the extra layer IMO.

I think Spoonrobot had/has/carries a Locksmith...if you're out there Spoon what do you think of it for EDC?

It killed me when he snapped the blade shut...I used to do that but realized it made a tiny dent in my blade!

If any Locksmith owners out there have the Locksmith and a ruler handy, post here with a quick measurement of the thickness of it please! :)

According to the SAK Selector...

One Hand Trekker
Thickness: 18 mm

Locksmith
Thickness: 30 mm

Something is wrong...adding a file doesn't add 12mm

I don't doubt you it's just the the models and the sizes I'm finding online don't jive...

I'll find out soon enough; I've got a Locksmith on the way...

If the OHT is 18mm and the Tradesman is 24mm...I'll take a wild guess and say the Locksmith is 20-21mm (?)

Well I measured it in the morning when I was still shaking off the effects of my sleeping pills, so that's why I double checked :D

I'm thinking to get an OHT (a bit behind the times, I hear they were popular a year ago...)

Anyway, can someone with one (or any 111 with a saw) tell me how great the saw is?

I want to be able to cut 1/4 to 1/2" MDF, reasonably regularly.

Currently I use a mini-hacksaw, but It'd be nice not to run for the toolbox all the time

Can anyone with a Locksmith or other 111mm File share thoughts on how it goes? (never really used a Vic file, save the Classic for my nails)

(I need to decide soon, I think Tim is getting sick of me changing my mind :P)

but I forgot to specify Plain or Serrated Edge, so there is still time to change my mind!

What should I do?

I think you as a connoisseur of fine stuff should go for the plain edge, wouldn't want those horrible looking serrations messing up the beautiful lines of the blade now would you? :D

I'm inclined to agree.
Serrations seem a little savage don't they.

I bought a OHT for myself, and my best friend back in the states, I got him an Equestrian.

I am in the Army (so the OHT fits the bill).  My best friend in the States has an Arabian mare he owns, and helps to tend other horses on the farm he volunteers at.  He told me the hoof cleaner on the Equestrian is the best type of hoof cleaner he has ever tried.

BTW, he has a pre-1987 Champion that his uncle brought back from Switzerland and gave to him over 20 years ago.

I only own a rescue tool . I must admit to liking my buddy's two handed Fireman . Nothing beats the belt cutter on the rescue tool ! I would love to see them come up with other saws for it .
