I only pick mushrooms that have a price tag on them

Nice, what blade on your SAK do you use when gathering the mushrooms out of the ground?

I'm with Fiddy, I only pick ones with price tags, but I imagine it depends on the size as to which blade.

I don't know enough about 'shrooms to keep from poisoning myself!  :ahhh

I've heard of some people taking certain dried out ones and crushing them up into a powder to start fire with the magnifying glass on the swisschamp.

Some mushrooms contain psilocybin and are psychedelic. I wouldn´t know about the one in  the pic though.

I know only the german word for the shown mushroom - Safranschirmling (Chlorophyllum rachodes) and if I'm right from the picture it would be edible.

Congrats also to your acrobatic performance ...  :2tu:

I took a class about ten years ago and for awhile was comfortable identifying a few different edible varieties. That knowledge has sadly faded and all that I remember is some of the insidious ways they kill you

Not quite remember the real name of the ones we have here, but they are colloquially called "magic mushrooms" :D

Gotta admit I'm envious of you guys finding all these 'shrooms. I don't know of a single good place to hunt here these days. The city keeps expanding, and there's less woodland every year  :-\

It's too bad to hear that. But what comes outside your city? Agriculture? The next city?  :-[

I live in the desert so Shrooms are rare unless you buy one of the homegrow mycelium kits. Not even much in the way of cactus fruit out here. Plenty of Desert Gooseberries though, they taste alright. No berry pic thread though.

You have to go some distance now to get lesser traveled woods where one might find untouched mushrooms. Areas outside of my town that I don't know well, and am not super comfortable exploring. For one thing I don't know who owns which plots of land out there and I don't want to accidentally trespass on private property. For reasons ranging from stepping in traps, to mistakenly stealing owned mushrooms, to stumbling on well armed marijuana farmers. But then the safer areas are well traveled enough that you can't find anything worth collecting.

I don't know any other options to explore currently

Uh, sounds complicated. But mushroom hunting is not the world, just one of countless leisure activities.
I live 100meter next to the forest, love to be in the forest since my childhood.
I learned the mushroom hunting from my father, now I teach it to my son.

Today we found and eaten these:

One day i hope to go out into the woods with my little stove, a pan, some butter and some olive oil, find some shrooms, fry them up and sit back and enjoy them with a little glass of wine, but not today..
i think these are some sort of Honey fungus, best avoided i think

I am with the others....my mushrooms are bought at the grocery store.

It has been found that the poisonous mushrooms are capable of using an edible mushroom as a host.

You think you are having a tasty bite then ....Kablamo!...  :D
