I couldn´t find an English name for this one.
The Dutch name translates to Silver Tree Pillow (scientific name Enteridium lycoperdon).
Together with Pioneer Solo.

Our family picks a lot of chanterelles every year, the season starts late may in Finland though, forests still have snow all around there. Still some in the freezer though, they make for a delicious sauce with bacon, great pies as well.

So it is! This one from last Sunday. I used the Opinel #10 sickle to get rid of some undergrowth before taking the pic and then forgot to put a SAK in the pic.

Known as ´chicken of he woods´, this mushroom (Laetiporus sulphureus) is edible when young. I didn´t harvest it though, I don´t eat mushrooms.

Make that certain death. The fungus eats the tree (an oak) from the inside out.

Good luck! Those are some very expensive mushrooms! May you only grow the big heavy ones! I didn’t realize they were so expensive until I saw the movie “No Reseverations”

Depends on the type of truffle, black perrigo truffle (Tuber melanosporum) and the white truffle (Tuber magnatum) have a high market value, and are also difficult to grow, as they will only grow under very specific conditions. Other truffles like the black summer truffle (Tuber aestivum) are pretty common, inexpensive and will grow pretty much everywhere. Doesn't taste as nice as a black perrigo, but they are great for cooking too.  :)

I guess its similar to the difference between Caspian Beluga Carviar (aka, Russian Caviar) and..well..pretty much any other caviar out there.

But back to truffles, I am not planing on making any big business out of it, as I don't have a big property to set up a large enough trufflerie, it also can take 3-5 years to really grow some big ones, and even that is not guaranteed. So it will mainly just be more of a hobby thing that I will have going on.  :)
Kind regards,

MMR
