Day 12
Sometimes the Spirit is a bit too sensible & pragmatic.
What if I need a violently orange SAK with a gutting blade?
I reach for the Wenger Evohunter Blaze. Has anyone ever turned a Geiger counter on one of these things?
I'm pretty sure they're fizzy with radiation. But what the heck - they look great!

Busy!

Still using the Spirit often, but keep returning it to the tool kit, the alox is more pocket portable.  :D

They are worth the wait, meanwhile the Spirit becomes more indispensable, that's my experience anyway.  :tu:

Agree with Thunderpants too, they are sensible and pragmatic almost to a fault.

You could just pretend you live on a weird island in the Pacific where it's always 13 hours left or right of the rest of the world...

The Powernoodle clan has been watching Lost on Netflix.  It doesn't seem that time matters much there either.

Magentus, yes they are very much a part of the family. I've never heard of your dog's breed but that's a very interesting history. She sure is pretty and I'm sure she's a big part of your family.

Any good? I was thinking of starting that once I finish my current backlog (Battlestar Galactica, Person of Interest, and Star Trek Voyager).
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

[Is Lost] Any good?

I would not be watching it, except that my 15 year old is into it.  Its just very strange.  I think that most sci-fi guys would like it.  Its just plain strange, and sometimes a little hard to follow.  Halfway through the series, a character named Hurley gives a 90 second recap of the entire plot line, and things start to fall into place after that.

I enjoyed Lost initially, but it became a chore towards the end. I had to keep watching it trying to get a sense of closure.  At least you can binge watch on netflix so you're not wasting 3 years of your life waiting for that resolution. It's probably better if you binge watch because you won't forget stuff and then you're sitting there wondering what is going on half the time.  The forgetting what was going on was especially bad between seasons because it was one of those shows where they took almost a year between seasons.

Yes there was that  :D I tried to block that part out and that may have been why the show messed with my head so much :o

Day 12

I'll post a picture of my carry these winter days. The red strap on the light is elastic and helps hold it in place when I use it as front light for my bike. Since I have a suit jacket on against the cold (multiple layers of wool works well for the kind of temperatures I face here (worst I've had is -25° Celsius)) I bring full size pens instead of the Fisher Bullet that I usually carry.

Speaking of TV-series I just saw the first episode of Netflix's Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and while it's not much like the book (I'm reading it right now) it does have plenty of potential.

And now, in the second episode Dirk seems to be bringing a Victorinox Spartan to a gunfight.

Thanks for the thoughts on Lost guys. I might just have to watch a few episodes and see if it hooks me. I do like complicated shows, things that make you think. I love Fringe, it sounds like Lost might be kinda similar.

Day 12

Wrapping presents! It's incredibly hard to hit the shutter button on a camera while cutting wrapping paper with the Spirit scissors. I like these scissors normally, but the standard Victorinox 91mm scissors are easier to use on gift wrap.

May it be as the Pattern has chosen.
