I'm off on my trip to visit WW1 battlefields on Thursday. The tour is based in Menen,and we will have some free time in the evenings. So...is anyone familiar with Menen? Can you recommend anywhere for SAK shopping? Is there anywhere good to eat? Are there any local beers I should be having a look at?

I am totally disappointed in this thread.... I was sure I was going to open it up and there would be something like "I need someone to wire me a thousand Euros, a replacement passport, two donkeys and ask no questions."

I mean, I still hope someone comes along with some help for you, but you can see what a let down it is to just ask for restaurant and beer advice!  :D

Gorgeous women folk.

I was in Bruges for a few days and I thought it was great. One of my favourite European stops when I was there. Enjoy your trip...and watch out, sometimes a bag of chopped onions might get you by surprise and get the eyes going. Not a bad thing.

I lived in Belgium for a few years and a beer called Duval was my favourite (not sure on spelling ) most of there beers are strong and taste good  :tu:

Duvel is pretty good. Piraat is not too bad either.
