All about me
on: November 09, 2016, 04:29:59 PM
Hi,

After being active on the forum for over three months I think it's time to introduce myself.

I'm 54 years old and have been collecting pocket knives all my life. I don't really remember how or when it started, and I no longer possess the first knives I had. Currently my collection numbers over 150, roughly one third of them SAKs.

I've been a jack of all trades since I left school, working in accountancy, life insurance mathematics, computer programming, warehousing and gardening. My hobbies include walking, cycling, photographing, and wildlife spotting.

With half a lifetime of experience using pocket knives, I'm now old and wise enough to determine which knives in my collection are shelf queens that will never get any use. They will probably end up in the "Multitools for sale" board sooner or later.

There's lots more to tell, of course, but this is it for now. Feel free to ask, however.

Great pics of your gear.  Its great to get to a point of knowing what works.  The interesting part is wanting to carry all the things that work at the same time.  I am begging to understand what works and when.  I still like to carry items "testing" their effectiveness.

I'll have something to say about that, relating knife types with work environments. I'm waiting for my camera (it's being serviced right now) but I'll have it back by the weekend.

It seems longer to me too. Probably because of a busy life. I like it here, so many different people and collections, I learned a lot these three months. It also got me thinking about which direction to take my own collection (more SAKs, away with tacticals, and I need to add at least one Congress patterned knife  :D).

You're welcome. I posted the mugshot earlier in the mugshot thread but this thread seemed more appropriate to me.

 The stick's gone. I cut myself a new one, about 7 feet of 4 inches, a few weeks ago.
I'm hoping to have it nicely carved by the end of winter but I haven't even started.
