After wearing my G-Shocks most of lockdown, decided to dust off some of my mechanicals to check their timing.

Today’s wear is the Geographic.

Fun fact...

The logo is modeled on the International Geophysical Year logo which shows the orbit of the first artificial satellite. While Sputnik was used for scientific testing, it created much concern (panic), not helped by the fact that it was launched into space using a rocket developed for delivering a hydrogen bomb to the US.

JLC supplied watches to some of the crew of the US Nautilus, the first nuclear powered submarine, after its trip under the North Pole in 1958 as part of this multinational scientific programme.

I assembled a few some years ago with Asian clone movements, but I was lucky to get my hands on a few genuine 6498-2 movements before ETA stopped general release.

Have just one clone movement watch left I’m trying to move at the moment from a batch I built some time ago. Not a bad copy, keeps good time and a nice sterile model.  :tu:

As I sit on my Crapper Throne in the Reading Room and explode on the Commode, thinking, how my flush beat John’s and Jerry’s pair? Jack’s had to run for the Water Closet yet ended up tripping on a Can bowing and hitting his Head on the Porcelain God! 🚽
