Pulled out and changed the battery in my old Bulova Millenia Moon Phase. Going to wear it on my day off(Monday). :)
The Millenia with the rest of tomorrow's EDC (minus the binocular glases).

is that an opinel folder ? always wanted to get one . how do you like it ?
It is a peasant knife, like an Opinel. But, it is made by Marjacq. I don't know if they are still in business, but their lock system and pivot are much better than the Opinel system. I have several Opinels and like them as well. Opinel has a great variety of models . :)

Do you travel often, JR? Aside from that and adjusting for DST, I can't see a real strong advantage that would make atomic worth the extra money.
one of my g-shocks checks the atomic clock through satelite link up ( i think ) nightly . it was a real pain in the keyster when i was traveling . i could not adjust for different time zones

Check Opinel out when you can. They have many different sizes and a few styles. They carry fairly well and are so light weight, you'll forget it is in your pocket. :tu:
I recently got a #12 and love it. It is a big one though. The No.8 seems most popular. Might be a good first Opinel. Go with the Inox blade though(in my opinion. Many will disagree though). The Carbon blades require more upkeep. :ahhh

It’s a radio signal, the one in US is out of Colorado, the rest are spread across the world. They are a pain cause if you adjust it come 2-4am it will readjust to what your timezone its set for, that’s why it should have a 2nd time, the first one you leave alone, but then when traveling you set that one because it won’t change back,  then when back to your norm time you just switch back ready to go.. at least that’s what I thought I read in the manual when I got it..

I’ve wanted this citizen for so long, it’s analog, solar, the hours are in numbers rather then just marks, along with min, and it’ has both date and day, the only thing it’s not is atomic.. then it would be perfect in my book, I’m sure there’s one out there but then I’m sure the price would be waaaaaay up there..
JR

Great watch! I recently got one myself.  I wasnt thrilled with the strap as the large holes wouldn't allow the right adjustment on my wrist.  I put a leather NATO on it and now its perfect.   Enjoy!

Taking out the Automatic Tag Heuer AquaRacer. :)

Nice choice, GLBM.  Nothing beats a classic like a TAG Aquaracer.  Go Swiss!

Thought I was going to wear a diver today, but felt like something a bit lighter today. Victorinox Quartz watch was worn today. :)

I saw a review a while back by the Urban Gentry.  He basically stated, these are the very watches, that you would want to wear in a post-apocolyptic scenario.

That is a classy diver. Coin bezel, day/date, crown at 4, clean dial and automatic. Checks a lot of boxes. :) . Great choice of band too..

Done that a few times. That is why I have several $7 wal-mart watches now. I did put the WM watches in my glove box, so granted the batteries last, I have some backups.

What’s better eco or automatic?
I’ve been looking cause I soooo want that citizen, yet that’s eco and I kinda like some of these divers which are automatic, now each have their downers cause the eco’s are still battery, it’s just a self charge so they can go bad, and an automatic is a spring, it gets wound up as you do whatever, yet it can also lose its tension, other downer is it can be to it’s max and will only run for like 2days if you do nothing, in like a solar charge eco which can go months without anything..
   What’s everybodys thoughts?

I prefer automatic. But, that is only because of my fascination with mechanical stuff. Automatics have more moving parts, which lend them to be subject to more issues than solar-charged watches. If I didn't care so much for mechanical complexity and concept, I would logically go with the solar-charged stuff.

It is a matter of taste and preference. Some watch-people tend to consider automatics and mechanicals to be more "genuine" to horological legacy. Technology-people will appreciate the complex circuit of the solar capacitance cell drive system.
I am a bit of both, so I can't say which is better for certain. However, with that said, I would choose automatic over solar, just because of my fascination with mechanical systems. :tu:

I was torn between that Citizen Eco and a Seiko 5 automatic.  My budget allowed for something in their relative price range.  In the end the deciding factor was the fact that I wasnt going to wear either of them to work and I don't typically put one on when I get home unless I'm going back out.   I wanted something that would still be running after 3-5 days of not being worn.  That's why I chose the Eco.  Plus my work watch is a Solar Atomic Gshock and ive been wearing that for years with no issues.

That being said, there is something super cool about the mechanics and movement of an automatic.  I don't have one yet and I wouldnt wear it enough to to justify a really nice one but that Seiko 5 will likely be the next watch I purchase.

That’s what sucks, it’s like getting torn between that citizen eco and that seiko, like ahhhh which one? I can see a heavy automatic diver if it’s only got to be the time set whenever you want to wear it, but if it’s got the day and date and you have to go through all that every time you skip out on not wearing it that’s gotta suck! I have three automatics, and two solar, one in which is atomic, I also have that one other atomic but that’s battery.
Like mentioned before there’s really no reason to have the atomic, it’s just really a cool thought, so that pretty much just drops you to which way solar, automatic, or battery, and it’s pretty much looking now adays that batteries are just not cool since they have to be replaced so often besides that one watch that supposedly lasts 10yrs? So we’re back to automatic or solar, like you two said I think the mechanical part is way cooler, it just sucks that it’s not like a grandfather clock that can run for like a month after being set and the weights raised cause not everyday am I going to wear it. My only other thing is that citizen is the closest thing that comes to what I’m after, actual #’s as markers, both day/date, 5-55min next to the markers, and a somewhat heavy case which it doesn’t really have. That seiko has a baby version and the bezel is marked 5-55 rather then only a few numbers, but the face doesn’t have numbers, now put those two together and I’d have like the perfect watch! But which way automatic or solar, if I had that perfect of a watch I say automatic cause I don’t think I’d ever take the dang thing off!

Well maybe move the day/date and crown to 4 rather then 3 so it doesn’t dig into the top of your hand?

If you're gonna have one everyday watch. A Seiko 5 is a great choice.  :like:

Went a little sporty today. Plus, it went well with my yellow button-up shirt and sterling rings. :)
Invicta day/date (read on the sub-dials). Forgot how much I liked this watch. :ahhh

I didn't realize it, but this Japanese Movement Orient "Crystal" 21J Automatic looks a lot like your Seiko. Your Seiko and this Orient have a very aesthetically pleasing dials. :)
