I polish my knifes edges.

I'm not sure when this started but I distinctly recall seeing gorgeous polished edges and wanting to do the same.  Over the years I've gotten better with my limited equipment and knowledge. 

I find it very relaxing stropping my knives.  I do it for aesthetics more than for perceived or real benefits.  I love the way it catches the light when I pull the blade out.  I totally geek out and feel proud like a Samurai unsheathing his sword in battle. 

I even polish my MT edges.  I'm addicted to the process and aesthetics.

I love the look of that American Lawman with polished edge  :dd:.  The Spydie is no slouch either.   :salute:

Those look really really nice Aloha :like: :like: :like: I have a strop but never sit down and use it :facepalm: What do you put on your strop to make edges look like that :think: Also pics of the strop and what you load it up with would be nice :whistle: :D

Nice work folks  :tu:

Personally I prefer a coarser edge. I tend to finish the edge with a couple of quick passes on a diamond steel to help give it a bit of bite. I only tend to strop knives that seem prone to burring

I just use a piece of heavy belt leather, the real stuff, like 9 oz, glued to a chunk of wood, Ponch! Load em with Rouge that will polish it, or compound, or even simichrome or mothers.
Clean it with wd40 wipe off excess, dry, reload.

I love that Samauri flash on a long blade 7 or 8 inch tanto, hell it looks good on a beater SRK.

The ONE THING THAT CHAPS MY BUTT, about knife companies now, is you pay money for them, you use em, you want to polish it up and KEEP the logos and trademarks...oh NO! Not now!!

Used to be I could beat and polish an old Trailmaster to hades, and you could not polish the words Cold Steel Carbon V off the darn thing. Now they practically spray paint stuff on there.

I'm no master engraver, or I would fix that myself!

Polish slows the rusting process on high carbon steel if its done right so I'm all for it!

Poncho those blades were Powernoodles.  I can't seem to resize my pictures at the moment but I have posted my BO Wave, Spydie, Kershaw Dimension, and possibly others.  My process is pretty much the same as SteelRavens. 

I have an old leather belt loaded with green compound I got at Lowes affixed to a scrap piece of wood.  I strop till she shines and then I strop some more.  I've also used Mothers Mag Wheel Polish which works nicely.  I love the shine irregardless of performance or perceived performance.  I would also agree that on my carbon blades I haven't had any rusting on the edge.

When the sun catches the edge  8)

I'll tell you what...if y'all got some convex stuff, or want to CONVERT a blade to it. The WORKSHARP KTS KEN ONION has a 6000 grit belt, and it'll put a mirror polish on one quick as all get out!!

You can glue thin leather on a wooden dowel for those recurves too!

Forgot to mention I picked up some lapidary diamond stuff.  Its diamond spray 8000 mesh /3 micron ( 1 carat ).  The product is from a company called Crystalite.   I also got the extending fluid too.  I paid a dollar ( US ) for both and have yet to try them out.

I think I have jeweler's rouge and also a couple home made strops but I think I may get some type of metal polish for the strop :think: Thanks for all the tips guys :tu:
