Nevery saw gooseberries myself either :o

And jelly is different than jam (or at least here)  ;) We do have both though :tu:

Great pic either way :salute: :like:

What's the difference between jam and jelly in the US then ponch?

Top pic is jam (for spreading on bread/taost, and bottom is jelly (a dessert):

I think American jelly is jam without the good stuff (the bits of fruit) correct my if I am wrong here American cousins.

Yep. Nail on the head :salute: Jam has all the goodness and bits of fruit whereas jelly is strained where you are left with just the juice :tu:

And Mags second pic of jelly is what I would call Jell-O or gelatin :tu:

Pretty cool to be learning stuff like this :like:

It's biscuits that do my head in. Here, biscuits are cookies, and your biscuits are like our scones.  BTW we are right because biscuit means 'twice cooked'  :pok:

And the gravy you have with your biscuits seems like our white sauce! How do you make the gravy for your biscuits?

Wow, where are you that the gooseberries are ripe?  Mine are still small and the Tent Caterpillars are stripping the leaves off.

I consider jam to be smoother and more sugary.

We have been squishing and drowning them in a bucket. The Apple and Pear trees are getting chewed. Out in Saskatchewan it is at plague level. There is a bacteria available that you can spray on the leaves. The Caterpillars eat it and it causes them to starve themselves.

For slugs I use Diatomaceous Earth. Pour it around the perimeter as if it is broken glass.

Jam is fruit, sugar and pectin.
Jelly is juiced fruit, sugar, pectin and gellatin.

Not sure why auto correct changed gellatin to fellation.

😕

 That makes two of us who have learned something today. I learned my good friend firiki is back 'on line' as the youth call it, and most importantly, that he drinks Ribena. Was it an enjoyable experience?

We will make the gooseberries into a jam (jelly as our US compatriates say), or conserve (as our European comrades have it).

How's things in Sunny Greece M'Lord?

On what front, dear Sir magentus of MTO?   :D

I can't remember a rainiest (is that a word?) month of June, now tempeture is rising to abnormal levels, all of which, alas, contributes to my remaining stranded with a touch screen for another good while until home repairs are over... :(

Ribena... other than the odd orange juice or home made lemonade, I don't drink juice in general, canned ones even less. Add to that I am not fond of most berries, then you see why I didn't like Ribena.

Fruits preserves, on the other hand, I love greatly. Bilberry, strawberry, orange, bergamot, strawberry tree (arbutus unedo), peach are my favourite ones in order of preference

I trust you'll be playing Jammin' by Bob Marley in a buckle while making jam and and I hope it turns out delicious

Gravy :dd:  :D I use either oil or what cooks out of the breakfast meat I have been frying and bacon grease  2 big spoonfuls of flour and brown that in a skillet, turn the heat up and add milk (all the while constantly stirring) It then makes ir it doesn't :D Then I smother biscuits, fried taters and whatever meat I made with it and sometimes fried eggs  Not a meal we have a lot of or I would have to be rolled around places

I've got a badly beaten '89 DAK also, but it isn't worth the postal stamp xD
I'm trying to only buy from flea markets (and that's where the three lasts came from btw) because it is harder to find, thus better for the wallet

Wanted one answer and got three! I should feel extra satisfied but instead I am just more confused. Does that acronym really have three different meanings?
