Leatherman Wingman Assembly

Hello, new member, I am a proud owner of a original wave, and a wingman. I recently took the plier head out of my wingman & cant seem to get the screw back through the brass washer, does anybody have any tricks to get that back together?

You have to apply pressure the spring that puts tension on the plier head as you are inserting the pivot through the hole, if that makes any sense ?
