Got brave with the bench grinder tonight!
on: July 17, 2019, 05:02:16 AM
Took my “beater” Pioneer X and did some work to the can opener...

Still needs a bit of finish work. Had to stop, for some reason my bench grinder vibrates horribly. Was rattling the entire house!!  Haha!!

Or out of balance/non-concentric wheel ?

Not sure why it vibrates so badly. It’s practically brand new. Will check the wheel one of these days. Haha

Nice work! I do the same to mine as soon as I get them and the best part is that they still works on cans

What's the purpose of the mod?  You lost your can opener and gained maybe (?) a better  flathead driver. :dunno:

Think OP is attempting to make the "Technician's Screwdriver" that is found on some rare pioneers and is worth a ton.

Depending on how the tip is finished I think it will work pretty well.

As to losing the can opener... well, for me anyway, it is my least used tool on the Pioneer, unless you count its use as a semi-decent Phillips drivers.

Checked the grinder. It was actually the wire wheel I had on there. It was not the proper size and I had washers shimming it and that’s what thru it out of balance.

I yanked it off and put the original grinding wheel back on. Much better!

I never use the can opener. I wanted a longer reach screwdriver.

Great mod!   I’ve done the same thing with two of my Super Cadets.
