Your unloading area
on: December 07, 2016, 02:30:20 AM
I have a spot on my dresser where some knives and tools are in drawers for easy access. In front of that is my unloading area or dump spot for when stuff come out of my pockets at the end of the day.  Here's my unloading area, what does yours look like? Mine need some clean up lol

Mine at times has looked very similar but lately I have condensed it down to a leather personals bags that I recently replaced with another one :tu: I have tried putting my stuff in it instead of on top of the dresser cause my wife doesn't like scratches on it  :D Anything to make her happy plus it looks like I am trying to be more organized now :D

I for one don't unload my EDC at the end of the day at all.  My phone goes on the ,charger, watch and necklace in my pants pocket and my pants next to my bed. That way if I need to get moving in a hurry all I have to do is grab my pants  and boots and everything is ready to go.
Nothing is separated unless I'm either changing over to a new set of pants or working on my edc.

But yeah, my drawers are disaster chocked full of random bits of gear. They do become a mess quite quickly when I am fiddling with MTs n such.

My work EDC goes from today's pants to tomorrow's pants every evening as well but weekend and when I go places in the night time during the week I unload as I said above :tu:

Phone goes on the charger, keys and wallet go on a tray in the kitchen, everything else goes in the sock drawer.

On a coat rack mirror thingy by my front door. It holds the things that find their way into my pockets the most often. Anything else is stored in Stanley boxes. Keys on key hook on the wall. Cell phone stays with me till bed(work).  My kid is old enough now to know not to touch them. Before that everything was locked up. Made it a little difficult and time consuming.

Everything gets dumped onto the lid of a plastic container on my night stand.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

I think after seeing some of these wooden drawers I am going to either have to buy something or build some for myself  :D

Well when i happen to be organized it looks a little like this. My big blades (not pictured) don't really have a true home because they don't fit in my drawers and my firearms stay separate as well.

I also have a spot to lay out my carry for the next day (only if I am really being pro-active)

I keep some of the stuff I might use in two drawers, one is on my bedside table and the other one is on our desk. I regularly carry the same stuff though so no need for an unloading area for me.

BTW, I thought of something else when I first read the thread's title

This thread gave me an idea. So I bought a couple of tin boxes and rearranged my stuff in my two drawers. I also bought this.

It looks like a book but, in fact, it is a wooden box I put on the bookpile by my bedside and keep there elements of my EDC when I change pants or bags. I also put my Suunto, glasses and sometimes my wallet or iPhone on it. Now everything is tidy.
