Got my Wave fixed.

Just got my Wave back.  Got it fixed up, and forgot how handy this guy was.  I've been sans multitool for a while now, and I got my Wave, and took it to work today and used it it seemed ALL day long.  I used the metal file to saw through a nail, the diamond file to sharpen some knives, the pliers to grab a pin out of a piece of metal, and the PE blade to whittle while waiting for the next show.  I have complained up and down on here about how fed up I am with Leatherman, because the last three LM  tools I have had have broken, and how the Wave is a thumb biter and not very ergonomic, yaddy yaddy yadda, but I missed it.  It was a gift from my wife when we were dating, and it has alot of sentimental value.  My Swisstool is an awesome tool.  But personally it's not the same.  I'm glad I got it back.  I guess I'll give LM one last chance.  One L-A-S-T chance.  LOL.

I hope it is not a original model Wave you have mate ,  ::) :D They do not seem to be a real sturdy design , I think the new style might be less flexy .

Ya know I just got a Wave.  And since I know next to nothing about them or how they should operate...I have a quick question.  Mine seems to be a little stiff when opening it up from the fully compact postion to the pliers postion.  Is it supposed to be a little bit stiff?

I think Waves are often hard to open when new. They should loosen up fairly quickly though with a little working in. Don't worry about it.  ;)

Thanks Ponch.  I'm not sure if I am giving Leatherman another chance so much as I am giving the tool my wife gave me another chance.

hmm i was never impressed with the leahermans  quality and finish , its good to see the new  leathermans with  decent steel kn the knife blade.. but the grinding and finish on most tools is not so good.

gerber is just horrid,, same with all the shrade  multitools ive seen pot metal..  and tinny..

but when i saw the victorinox multitool the first time , i will have to say,, it is   well put togeather,, and well finished!!
realy nice tools.. only thing is theyer a little on the heavy side  for some things.. 

the wenger multitool is bloody good, and appears to be drop forged aswell,, and cot cast like most of the other tools heads.. also it has the correct wire clippers, not the cross cut shears that are rather next to useless for cutting things :S... ,or meant for a cable cutter or something..

only thing i dont like is the plastic grips,, if they offered them in alloy or steel grips .. ive be pleased.

,.. you know im suspect as to how many of the tools have cast as oppose to drop forged heads.. i suspect dut to their soft nature the leatherman and sog have cast steel heads..

dam it , a plier company like cresent should make a multitool.... this would be something..

i actualy designed a non-folding multitool.. designed to be more durable than most  normal multitools. one hand opening main blade , with a back-lock, large   saw with a  tapered spine, to stop in binding in plastic.. screwdrivers with a  titanium coating on the tips to make them stick and not slip in the screw..   several diamond  files, a can opener/wire stripper, ruler,, lanyard,, and the abilitary to  used  screwdriver bits..thing was going to  be  carbon steel with stainless and tool steel blades.. mai blade was to be proably d2.. the saw was to be l6.. i was thinking of a file also, but the snap so much...  .......

... p.s. here is a t knife i designed at one point.. has one or two tools on it , was a prototype.. .......

Crescent did put there name on a MT the Bear Jaws line of MTs they were called Toolzalls ;) I have a Toolzall Maintenance Pro that is Crescent branded :D very nice tools by the way :cheers: :cheers: :cheers:
