Mini bit ratchet
on: December 10, 2016, 10:08:35 AM
So, for quite some time I was looking for a mini bit ratchet.

I could order one from Vic, but prices were getting quite high.

So I looked at some alternatives.
From the equaly expensive Topeak to generic China made ratchets on the bay, which looked good, but you never know what you'll get 'till it hits the mailbox.

So last week I found a mini ratchet in a local DIY-shop, which was quite  extraordinary since I couldn't find them anywhere at first.
Bosch brand, which does give a little confidence.

€20, but there were discounts that day which brought the price to €18.

For the money you get:
the ratchet,
bit extender,
PH1, 2(x2), 3,
PZ1, 2, 3
S (Flathead) 4, 5, 6,
Torx 10, 15, 20, 25, 30,
Hex 3, 4, 5, 6,
4 sockets, resp: 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 13mm,
Socket adapter.

Quite a decent toolset, although I doubt the ratchet is intended to drive the large sockets.

The minidriver is quite decent, the handle is easy to switch over by thumb. It's constructed from metal, while the bit holding part seems to be some form of alloy.

It's got a nice pocketable size and does what it's supposed to.

So far I could only find one downside.
The ratchet comes with a set, which means I'd have to break up the set to EDC the ratchet... and I hate taking sets apart and have a half emptied box as a result... which is just all in the head ofcourse...
