Neil
Sadly very true, but there are still some knifemakers/companies up that way, but there still churning out very dated tool's, and just how far can ignorance/nostalgia take you :-\

Or you could view it as quality classic designs ;)

What's worse is I bought a knife from a small Sheffield maker last year and was quite horrified by the lack of care in the finish  >:( :(

Neil
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

That's the problem, there churned out so quickly that the quality has really fallen by the wayside :(

Sheffield isn't a byword of quality anymore :(

They can keep their key mate. You ever seen the film "Threads", the one where Sheffield gets nuked? I swear it looked better afterwards.

I used to come here a lot.

I'm told there are nice areas to the city.  I just wasn't allowed into them :P

I spent three months there living out of a room in which the condensation ran down the walls and froze solid every night, bad days. Long time ago thank goodness.

So was I! Turns out not to be true though. Not quite as bad as Coventry, but on the way - you know?

I used to come here a lot.

I have a 4oz ball pein hammer called Mr.Lucky, he used to live in my gunsmithing kit...the face was polished and rounded for peening 1911 rails.

His job now is riveting SAKs together.
