Box ID assistance needed on Woodsman
on: December 30, 2016, 11:40:50 PM
I'm looking to put together a small Woodsman collection of some different variations.
The one I received today was wanted because of a few things:
1) No hook
2) Fluted Corkscrew
3) No hole in reamer

I thought I received the original box with it.  But the box is numbered 1.57 13  SakWiki makes reference to a 167.13 model.  Google searches bring up Woodsman for the 167.13.  Not sure what a 1.57 13 is.
Looking for some clarification.
Thank you.

A 1.5713 is a Woodsman (i.e. Explorer w/ wood saw). Victorinox transitioned to a new numbering system in the mid 1970s. In this system the 1.5703 was an Explorer and 1.5713 was a Woodsman. Each part of the number was a code to identify the knife:

1. = 91mm (0. = 84mm)
57 = Main blade, pen blade, phillips, mag glass, opener layer, reamer, corkscrew, scissors
1 = Woodsaw (0 = nothing, hence 1.5703 = Explorer)
3 = Key chain attachment, toothpick and tweezers

Sometime (in the late 80s IIRC) they changed the "57" code to a "67" code. No idea why. So the modern code for a Woodsman would be 1.6713 and the Explorer is 1.6703.

 8) :like: AWESOME INFO!

Is there a chart that you could share (or link) to the number code breakdown.
PLEASE AND THANKS IN ADVANCE!  :tu: :cheers:
