I find the key ring nubs on the 84mm and 93mm alox knives uncomfortable.  So any one that is to be carried gets it ground off. The ones on 91mm don't bother me as much, they're angled out of the way and the modern ones that are part of the back spring are wide enough to not be too pokey.

I can understand the desire for a ring for a dangler clip or lanyard, particularly on larger knives.  Not sure I understand the "quick pocket removal" aspect many have touted.  A SAK is many things, but fast ain't one of 'em, so for me, getting it out of my pocket a wee bit faster doesn't matter much.
If the trees blew down the wind and no one was around, would the alphabet song really go backwards?

Still undecided.  Yes for clip, no for lanyards...
It's me, back with new phone after retiring.

I've ummed and ahhed over the keyring question since the 1970s!

The conclusion I came to a few years ago is as follows: My Ranger, Cybertool and Swiss Champ each have a Victorinox leather belt pouch, and so have their keyring removed, which means the hazard of getting it trapped when closing tools (particularly the back set) is removed also. Anything smaller, which for me is all models of four or fewer layers, including all my 58mm ones, have their keyring still attached. I then thread a bootlace through this and use that to suspend the day's knife off my belt and into my front pocket.

And, hardly typically for me at all (yeah… ;) ), I’ve had a bit of a switch around this week, firstly removing ALL key rings apart from on the 58mm knives, and then adding back the ring and P7 to my alox knives, excepting the Pruner, which doesn’t have the facility! :D
