I'm not much of an electric guitar player, so don't know much about them. Is that a US strat?

yes, I still have the receipt, was actually almost 20 years ago

(Image removed from quote.)

Yeah, American Standards are like $1100 plus tax these days.

I bet it is.

I committed the mortal sin of buying a Squier but I really like it.  It's the J Mascis signature edition, plays real nice, tremolo isn't the BEST but works and is easy to replace.

Also have a 91 Mex Strat, 94 Mex Tele and have owned several other Fenders.

So is it like Vic is Fender and Wenger Gibson?   I don't think it really translates..

:twak: hey, careful now! I'm a certified Gibson fan boy. ;)

Actually Gibson and victorinox are the only two brands where I am probably a legitimate fan boy. I.e
, liking them in spite of, or because of their quirkiness / occasional mistakes.

Cool! I bought my Gibson in early '98. A NOS 1996 model. It was around $1200 back then. I don't have the receipt, but I do have my old layaway tag somewhere. For perspective, new J -45s go for at least $1k more now.  :ahhh

That stuff creeps me out, too. On all my personal stuff I have tracking blockers, but I can't install them on my work PC and it gets really annoying.

I love the looks of the les Paul. Not sure my shoulder could handle the weight, but man they sound good. If I were ever to get serious about electric guitar I would likely search out a les Paul or ES-335 style semi hollow. Probably Epiphone or something, though, due to the $$$$

Gibsons are great, I really like the SG and Thunderbird bass...

Thing that keeps me from buying a Gibson is the ticket price, and their solid bodies... I know it might improve tone but you drop the thing once and you're screwed.

You can throw a Strat down a flight of stairs and it won't even go out of tune.

The creepy thing is I didn't click on any guitar websites/links or even google. The chrome browser must just see key words on your page and pull up ads that match it

I really, really don't like the weight, feel or look of Les Pauls. Love me a 335 though.

I understand the weight thing (not so much the others ;)). They do make weight relieved versions now, which are nice.

Actually, I think it's mostly the feel, then the weight. Or the weight makes the feel worse.
And I think I don't really dislike the looks that much, it's just that when I see one all I can think about is how heavy it is and how much I dislike the feel.  :D

LOL, gotcha. Like I mentioned before, I'm a Gibson fan boy just like with victorinox, so I love all their craziness and quirkiness.

A 12lb instrument with a mahogany neck with an angled headstock with most of the wood at the bend removed for the truss rod? Sounds just fine to me!  :D

The other instrument I pretend to play. Honestly, harmonica has been one of the most difficult instruments for me to learn.

Funny that you bring up harmonicas..
Old blue is a Hohner (huge harmonica maker)

It's a guitar I had bought my dad many Christmases ago but it only gets played when I come home to visit

Cool :tu:

I've never played a hohner guitar. I believe they own Lanikai ukuleles, some of which are pretty nice. I've played a few of those.
