Well, my Fieldmaster is back as my EDC
on: September 30, 2008, 06:31:36 AM
Some of you may recall that I got an Outrider and I started EDC'ing it. My previous EDC was a Fieldmaster with PLUS scales. Well, I went back to it. The reason may surprise you. The Outrider is a much bigger knife but it wasn't too much of a problem, and tool wise it's very similar to the Fieldmaster so that wasn't a problem. The thing that made me return to the Fieldmaster was the PLUS scales. There were a couple times that not having a pen was very inconvenient.

One time I went out and I was expecting a phone call so I stuck my Fieldmaster back in my pocket. I slowly realized that despite the fact that it really isn't used all that much, the pen is something I really like having. I know I could carry a regular pen but I'd lose it. The little one in the scales is perfect for me. And the pin has also come in handy on occasion. So there you have it, possibly the lamest excuse ever for going back to a lesser knife.

Of course this could be solved by Victorinox making PLUS scales for the 111mm line.

Well, maybe you should just look at it as a fun experiment which reaffirms your initial choice.

There are many workarounds for the pen requirement, but I think you are simply destined to carry a  Fieldmaster...  ;)

Leave the dents as they are- let your belongings show their scars as proudly as you do yours.

My wallet is busting at the seems. Of course it isn't money that's doing it. That would be a problem I could handle.

LOL OK. I don't think it's gonna go anywhere. It's a great knife, and if I ever get the chance to go camping it'll be perfect for that.

Plus scales on a 111mm Vic would be really nice...I haven't seen the underside of the 111mm Scales; is there a way to mod them to accept the pen and pin?
