I like that you put the clip on the correct side of the handle.  Usually, the clips on the Wave, Charge, or Kick go on the bottom of the handles, which means when they are closed and clipped to your pocket, they open.  This is how the Sideclip has it's clip.  I'd like to try that on my Blast.  Did you just open up the screw, and rescrew it in with the clip in between?

I had to drill the hole on the clip for the screw to fit.  I also used a dremel to grind a small notch away on the Kick where the clip attaches so that the clip wouldn't wobble side to side.

The fuse has been the carry multitool of choice for me lately.

It's midnight and I'll resurrect whatever damn threads I like, thank you very much Mr Automatic Warning guy!

If the Fuse had an Awl instead of the second Flat head screwdriver, and a second blade (Serrated Sheepsfoot) instead of the Scissors, it just might make me a happy scout.

(In an effort to keep Nomad from feeling bad about starting an old thread noone might care about) I turned the smaller of the two screwdrivers on my Blast into an awl.  Works great too.

Pssht.

If people tried to reply to all my pointless spur of the moment late night threadery, this place's post count would double in a week.

I'll agree with you about the awl, but not the scissors.

Gotta have scissors. :)

Okay, how about this:

1) Get rid of the silly lanyard ring and the waste-of-space spacer alongside it.
2) Swap the scissors out of handle A and put it in handle B where the lanyard ring and spacer were.
3) Insert sheepsfoot blade (or diamond file blade!) or whatever the heck into spot vacated by scissors.

Yes?

Like my Fuse and Blast for all the reasons mentioned already, traded my kick for this: lets just say I like it much better.

Wow, I just traded my Kick for an old version of that knife!

The Kick was a nice tool, but I never would have carried it...not when I have a Spirit that takes up about the same belt space but has more tools.

Is that possible, or are the scissors too big and prevent the plier from folding away neat?

I dunno, it's real close. It almost looks as if the lip on the scissor handle will fit properly underneath the plier tips. My guess is yes.

Does anyone have the width differences between the Kick Fuse & Blast?

(the I.D of the handles, in mm if possible)

I did Hawk's GripTape thing to my PST a while back, but took it off because I was worried it was scouring the inside of the sheath.

Since my Kick won't be sheathed, I'll give it a second chance.

Since my girlfriend dropped the calipers behind the damn couch and still hasn't gotten them out I have measurements for you via ruler.

Blast:
I.D. 13mm
O.D. 17mm

Kick:
I.D.: 8.5mm/9mm (I'm not sure which side is actually which in stock form since both of my Kicks here are modded, but FWIW they both have the skinny side on the handle when the ruler starts in CM.)
O.D.: 13mm

Coo.

Anyone got the Fuse?

Unfortunately I have neither my ruler, nor my caliper verniers with me today, so if some folk could also measure the different tool thicknesses, t'would be most appreciated*.

*not in any substantial or monetary form mind you.

Okay, I found an old ruler.

(it has four measurement scales on it - 1/8"s, 1/16's" 1/32"s & 1/64"s - I suspect they were still burning Witches when they made this ruler, I'm a little bit surprised it is not in Roman Numerals)

Sorry for any inaccuracies, this thing is really tarnished and hard to read.

Knife Blade: 1/16 (1.6mm?)
Medium Slothead: 3/32 or 7/64  (2.4mm-2.75mm)
3(!) Spacers: 7/64 (2.75mm)

Can Opener: 1/16
Phillips: 3/16

The Phillips is designed to take the Bit adapter, thus the size

I had a Kick but just sold it so I could get the next must have gadget  ::)
I like them and they make good legal EDC here in the UK but to be honest I'd rather have an original PST . The current range is OK but sometimes I just think LM made them just for the sake of it and to just increase sales . In some respects the newer range is a step backwards .

Agreed. I carry my Blast from time to time because of the locks and slightly more comfortable handles.

But usually it's a PST in my pocket. Plus, the PST is just more fun to fiddle with. :D

Day Two of kick'n it.

Two styles of "tradie" pant, each with myriad pockets, loops, and widgets.

So far the Kick has slipped comfortably (or at all) into NONE of them.

Maybe I should just get a Skeletool  ::)

Complaining about the size is not really constructive criticism though.

I'm also annoyed that the blade-handle tools flop out to about 30 degrees.
Why isn't it shaped for the spring to have tension on them at all times?

I noticed something on the leatherman Website just now:
Every tool EXCEPT the K-F-B Range has a "Press Review" or is "Recommended" by some magazine/tv show or another.

Does this mean:
A. No one likes these tools?
or
B. Leatherman only offers up their premium tools (and juices, & squirts...) as bribes to editors, to be checked out by equipment journalists.

I edc'd the Blast for 3 years before getting a Core. Used it pretty hard and have no complaints. Very comfortable to use, decent length drivers, good pliers an wire cutters. It's a very reliable MT.  Only wish it had an awl and diamond file.

As you may know, I have a strict "Pictures or you're boring" policy, so here's a few of my latest acquisition (and my cruelly treated ECO-SAK)

Freshly Greased up Kick

Closeup of "The Leatherman Difference" in action

Fire Testing the Zytel®

I wanted to get something else into the pic, but I'm traveling light!

Ooh, Sharp.

Choose your Driver!

Well, I've started now, might as well open the rest of the tools....

Take that...Can!

Auxiliary Pokey things.

Some of you may spot some strange coloured dots on the blade in the first pic.

I want to assure you these are Go-Faster markings, nothing more.

I have, throughout today, had opportunity to use most of the Kicks functions (Can Opener & Lanyard Ring remain untested)

For what it is, I think it is very good.

All the individual tools work well.
I'm perhaps a little shy to admit it, but I think I appreciate the grips when really grabbing something (or cutting)

I've already discussed what I don't like, so I won't cover the same ground.

If I were newer to Multis (and perhaps tools in general - say if I was a woman or child) I'd think this thing is an excellent handy tool for the glovebox or kitchen draw.

My experience with it makes me a little surprised the Knifeless Fuse is not more popular as a compact tool-kit. I'm not sure the ubiquitous can-opener is required on a tool like this, but there is not really anything better to replace it with, so eh.

I think from here I'd be confident about getting a Blast and putting it to abuse at work & play
