Just an observation but if you were a hemophiliac owning just one knife might be too many. On the other hand if you worked in a meat processing plant you probably would never have too many. There are just too many mitigating factors to make a reasonable decision. Meanwhile I think I'll take a ride to the antique shop to see what he got in over the weekend...
Nah. Being a collector makes you exempt from horder labels and is a solid defense against court ordered psychiatric examinations........so you're golden!!!!!
At an esimated 300+ , or so knives, I can answer ..... YES, but that's just my view after collecting / hoarding for about 50 years I am sure that others may have a thousand or more, but I am now peronally saturated I think I would appreciate my collection more if it was pared down to around 100 , or less
Time to go thru them and one by one, handling them to see which ones still make you happy. Be sure to post pics too

Voted Yes. Each to their own, but too many things weighs heavily on me. At 10 SAK's I am now operating a 'one in, one out' policy.

Be sure to post pics too Easy to say.....not so easy to do. For the past YEAR I have been going through my accumulation and photographing it in it's entirety in order to prepare it for sale. I try to work at least an hour a day(don't always succeed). One box of knives that I have are all small to miniature knives and there are close to 700 in there. I can't believe the amount of money I have spent just in batteries for my camera! For extended life batteries locally a package of 4 is about $12.00. I've lost count of how many I have used.My large cabinet probably has close to a thousand(maybe more) in it and I am only down to drawer 6 out of 24. I still have 7 wooden machinists' tool boxes;4 large rifle cases, and several suitcases filled with kitchen knives and two large blueprint cabinets to go. If I am lucky it will probably only take a couple more years to finish.
Another trick question I have a bunch and still would like more Don't judge me
