Pair up your Electrician with a Minichamp, or Rambler. Best combination IMHO for routine EDC.

Till you need to open a can.

I still regularly open cans with my SAKs and the driver on the opener gets a lot of use tightening up exposed Philips screws.

The Cadet is great because it is small but the Pioneer tools are just easier to use.
Choose Awl vs Nail file or flip a coin.   Electrician is best as a second or special use SAK.
I can open cans with any sharp blade , I don't need a special tool for that

I'll take a small handy blade over a can opener any day. Any day.

A can opener..

You can't go wrong with any of the three.  And let's be honest, it's really a question of which will be your FIRST.

I don't understand the hate for the can opener?  :ahhh

It is honestly one of my most used general purpose tools...

Light duty pry bar, small flat driver, philips driver, staple remover, Lego separator, scraper (with the edge), nail cleaner, knot-undoer etc etc etc. And it opens cans too, often times better than most manual kitchen can-openers!

Yes, you can open a can with your main (or other) blade, but then it will most definitely not be sharp anymore. The can opener just shrugs it off and soldiers on.

I don't hate it at all , if it's there I'll use it , if not it's not the end of the world

Not to mention SAK scale remover, but I guess the electrician blade is pretty good for that, too.

It's a slippery slope taking sides on any SAK

I voted for the Cadet simply because that's what I carry during the week at the office. Weekends are typically a Pioneer or Soldier. I'm not a huge fan of the keyring which is why I favor the Soldier for the weekends. The Cadets I do carry are releases without the keyring which makes it much more comfortable to use.

Do you prefer the finger nail file or can opener to a utility sheepsfoot blade?

Thanks a tough one. Probably the finger nail file.
