Thanks guys :tu: It is a slow process for me as I was never one to take closeup pics of anything  I usually take pics with my phone of outings (vacations or weekend trips) and some of my work :tu: Outside lighting makes such a difference for me as I can never get lighting right inside and that whole process sort of baffles me  :D

I took this pic (as Steve reccommended) at a 4 to 3 ratio and I do like how this pic looks and then tweaked it some :tu:

The first pic looked awesome until I edited it and made the second one  Now it looks dull and boring :D That is river sand that we had delivered this morning in bags because we don't have enough room on the job yet for a regular sand pile ::) I patted it down and made it smooth and thought it might make a good pic  I almost had one with the ST 300 but to many people around and they might start wondering why I am taking pics of my knives and tools

Original picture, picture cropped for spotter's website, final edit. I changed the aspect ratio of the spider cutout, making it look huge.

Sweet pics Poncho .

And like you said, lighting is everything, outside natural light makes for those awesome  :o pics, inside light sucks ...

I use "Digital Photo Professional", that's the software that came with my Canon camera (an old Canon EOS 400D), I never cut my pics, I believe a pic should stay how you took it (I mean sizewise).

And I take my pics in RAW mode, that way you can edit it a bit more, I tend to change brightness and contrast a bit at first (watch out, it's easy to "over do" it), and then I edit color saturation a bit, and at the end, I sometimes edit sharpness a bit (but again, watch out, since it's easy to "over do" it).

But like I said, it all begins with good outside light, some days every pics you take looks awesome, other days, you end up with two or three "good" pics out of the fifty ones you took, that's just the way it goes I guess ...

I appreciate the words TG :tu:

Yes I was going a bit overboard a first, also used some of the different effects that made the images look somewhat fake ::) I toned it down a bit and try to keep them as natural looking as possible now :tu:

Glad I am not the only one that happens to :D Some day's all the pics look great and others I can't seem to get one that isn't out of focus  :D

It definitely is a learning process and I have only begun so I have a long way to go to learn much about photography  :ahhh :ahhh :D
