Hi guys,

Newbie here. I registered as a member but never posted anything. I made youtube videos on the Q1 and Q2 and I've been looking for ways to goose the views (full disclosure!).

Anyway the videos I made are quite in depth i think. But honestly any feedback would be welcomed.

No problem mate. Bit of shame really because your reviews are good. Maybe think about doing a non shop affiliated channel.

That or have a chat with Grant and work out a deal re advertising here.

I handled the Q1 last weekend... I have to say the first impression was better than expected. Now I'm really looking forward to Q4

The whole bit kit and holder for them is a nice touch and companion. Looks cool

Yeah, the elongated shape is excellent for carrying, much better than bulky/boxy.

I'm actually trying to pivot away from a pure ecommerce model and get more revenue off YouTube. But that's besides the point I get it.

Maybe a non shop channel! Maybe maybe.

I guess that's my biggest worry -- they might just end up being toys and nothing more.  For the Q1 I don't see myself replacing my Micra + a pen for it.  Or my Midnight Manager.  For Q2 umm...well, for that price I can get an MP400 + penlight.

Q3 looks interesting and I'll buy one but only if it's half its listed price.  Power Access looks like a better for a pair of pliers.

Q4 well....can I just get a Power Grab for the same price?

The Batons don't look as unwieldy as I though they would (unlike the Sync 2, which looks even worse than I thought), and good to see the AAA battery and off the shelf ink cartridges being used. Hellishly expensive for what you get though. To me they look like £5 to £15 petrol station impulse buys, not £50 - £80 premium tools.  :ahhh

Ahem, you were a bit out on the price mate  :twak: https://www.heinnie.com/sog-baton-q4  :ahhh

Is there a measurements of the Q series anywhere around in metric?
I could get my hands on them pretty "cheaply", but getting the dimensions would be nice. They look quite large in the pictures on SOG website.

There is premium pricing, then there is madness.

The line between the two was quite a bit lower than that price.

The SOG msrp was stupid. But the retail is on par. Not bad, already marked down $20-30

 :)  OOOOO   :tu:

Good choice.

I have had mostly negative things to say about these baton things but I handled them when I was in vegas recently and I would say that I would certainly buy the Q3 before any of the other models.

It's the only one that seems to have enough tools to justify a purchase.

I agree. The 3 seems to be the most comparable model to what most of us already consider a (plier based) "multitool". The 1 & 2 are silly. And the 4 you basically need to carry a bit kit with it.

It definitley has its negatives, mainly the build quality. But I'll give a good test before a final judgement.

I love the colors and the attempt at innovation.  I just don't see why the Q4 (and the Q3) is so thick.  I feel like they could have the same tools on a similar design and shave a millimeter off each side.  (at least)

Once again. I agree fully. Seems like a long design would feel smaller, it dosent. You're right, it seems like it could have been made allot smaller.
