Gerber Artifact Mod - Sort Of
on: January 26, 2017, 12:14:53 AM
I don't think this really qualifies as a mod. But I received this as a gift so it didn't feel right to sell this (Not too crazy with the Xacto blade feature). So I disassembled the entire thing and slotted in a P38 and used a ranger band to hold it in. You don't want the ranger band to be too tight as it would make this less accessible. It's not an exact fit in the slot but you can always go tighter in the ranger band.

I've thought about filing off the edges and drilling a hole in the P38 then have it pivot out of the pivot screw. But I figured it would be hard to use it as a can opener.

Anyway, nothing much to brag about, but enjoy!

I think it is better than the Exacto blade as well  The P38 is a great can opener and although it has been a good long while since I have had to use one they are the best at what they do IMO :tu:

Thanks!!! Yeah I have to admit I use the P38 rarely. But I get a big kick carrying it because of its history. Plus it's a great nail cleaner😀

Thank you all for the positive feedback!!
I did make 1 more slight change. I wanted to cover the entire P38 to avoid any over-enthusiastic security guard from barring me to enter a theme park or something. So I cut out a longer ranger band.

A little min-review on the mod, after some light use the longer ranger band actually helps me get a better grip on the tool. No surprise the Artifact outshines the Shard when it comes to better leverage.

I'm actually thinking of also slipping $20 in the band as a emergency stash.

Or as hush money for any theme park security guards!
