Who is up for an OHT month
on: February 01, 2017, 09:33:12 AM
The thread about OHO Tools made me think that I never really gave the OHT a chance. Sure it is bulky... But I didn't like the Signal at first and now it is my favorite LM (ok, its a tie with the Charge).

So, who would be up for a month of OHT madness?
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Yeah, sheath is not going to happen for me, I probably just put it in my pockets... At least I will have something to complain about :P

Have a chat to Gohard. He made a couple of sheaths for me. They are top notch and super comfy to wear. The one in the picture is a combo sheath for an OHT and a Micra. It is a little big for work carry, I will use a slimmer one for the challenge. The one on the left is the one for a single OHT.

Those are some good looking sheaths. I definitely need to send him a PM.

I might be up for the challenge. I just dug mine out, tried out my BO Wave PE blade in it, but put it back to stock.

That's actually an old pic.  I sent it back to LM and the replacement they sent me had issues.  So I sent that one back and sold the the second replacement when I got it.  I'm a big LM fan and I actually liked the OHT but kind of lost faith in it.

I would if i could pocket carry it. Only problem is that its kind of hard to drive to work without my car keys and house keys...  ::)

I did put the OHT in my pockets today, just to check how bad it is... It is un-noticeable in my 5.11 STRYKE pants.

Those pockets (red circle) are just awesome for MT carry

Hmmm. I like the looks of those pants. Looks like the cargo pocket are not made around the knees and are up higher where they should be.

They also have two inner pockets, one fits my smartphone perfectly, so it does not slide around.

Yeah, I saw that. I wonder if they will hold up in a rough working environment.

I used to wear trekking pants from known brands, so these pants are cheaper :D
Actually, by Swiss standard they are pretty average in price.

As for durability
The cloth is pretty good, it is a tad bit stretchy, which makes for a very comfortable wear but probably not the toughest cloth you can get. I think they are also in the trekking pants league for their intended use. Comfort and mobility. To my knowledge they were designed for security personell.
The design is great and they have some extra seam / doubled up cloth in all the important places (e.g. side pocket were you knife rides).
That said, like all my pants it is the chafing between the legs from cycling that kills them. Their durability there is similar to all my other outdoor pants (Mammut, North Face, Jack Wolfskin etc.). I have only worn one kind of Jeans in the past years and they did not last nearly as long, so all I can say they are better than this one Jeans.

All firemen and police that I have talked to around here are required to wear them.

So, who would be up for a month of OHT madness?

E: maybe start an official OHT March Challenge thread.  I'll be in - as soon as my OHT arrives.   :salute:

I wanted to let folks know the OHT will fit in the SOG Powers Powerassist sheath.  Until I can get the jurrasic world sheath this will work for me considering the molle sheath sucks.
