New models for 2017

...the backtool Philips is useless, the can opener does a better job...
LOL! It's not useless. I've used it on several occasions. No, the can opener doesn't do a better job. The can opener cannot reach recessed screws while the #2 Phillips can. Mini screwdriver? Yeah, that's a worthwhile tool for most people. Seems the redeeming quality of the corkscrew is to serve as a holder for a better tool. Well, OK. The corkscrew was on the market long before the mini screwdriver. I think the mini driver was brought to market with the aim to redeem the almost obsolete screwdriver.
Still, I think VIC has gone way overkill with the CS. Nearly every model they offer has a version with a corkscrew. Put it on this new bartender version and maybe a couple of other select models, but every model in the catalog doesn't need a CS version. It's a bit much. Even with Europe swimming in wine, I still don't think there's a need for that many corkscrews floating around. You can't do any real work with a corkscrew other than get yourself tipsy. So one could argue that it actually leads to less productivity. LOL!
It was a cute novelty for awhile and now it's become an icon, but Vic is leaning on that crutch a little too heavy in my opinion. They seem content to slack off on the R & D of the back tools. I'd like to see a new tool developed that excels when used from the back perpendicular side.

The can opener cannot reach recessed screws while the #2 Phillips can.
That goes both ways, the back-layer Phillips requires a lot of room to operate, more room than I usually have in a computer case.
The back-layer Phillips allows for a lot of torque but is probably the weakest tool they produce. Its the only tool I mangled during light use (if you apply enough force you can brake any tool).

To be fair, the only 91mm that I carry with a degree of regularity is the CT (no need for a back-layer Phillips there), else its Soldier '61 or Pioneer X for me. Because of that I favor the CS. I use it as punch, scraper, to carry stuff (can't remember when I last used it to open a bottle, must have been years).
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Well... I've said it and i'll say it again, for me the Phillips vs corkscrew thing is completely irrelevant to me, functionality wise both of them can't take much torque. I have other ways to use SD's on saks without the need to have a actual Phillips there, all i need is the full opening layer. As for the CS, i rarely drink wine and even less have the need to actually use it to open a bottle. I have the mini SD there but i've also have an equivalent i carry along with other bits, so there is some redundancy.

Aesthetically i like both of them, so i can get by perfectly with either of them, or even none of them. The only back tool i use more regularly is the awl, and still one has to be care full tot to put too much torque into it...  :-\

Seems, it will not be released. Company has faced with some difficulties in technology process - prototype was developed only as 3D render and nothing more :(
P.S. It's an unofficial information. Unfortunatelly I cannot say more (for now).

I was wondering how they would do it. The Hunter Pro´s scales are 3D contoured unlike other alox models.

Imagine Hunter Pro with the regular (I mean flat) alox scales..

That way an important part of the ergonomics would be lost.

Really nice and subdued shade of green on that alox. Sadly the X isn't included in the holy trinity.

Which models make up the Holy Trinity?

So it is now 2018. Has anyone heard what the 2018 Limited Edition Alox color will be? I am probably not the only one chomping at the bit for them to be released or at lease pics to be released/leaked.

Nah, I'm still waiting on the carbon CT that was supposed to be released February 2017
