At this point it is clear that Kampfers new Spyderco will not have a hole. That leaves some fixed blades, and AFAIK only one folder - the C27 Jess Horn - and it is a Japanese knife, and over budget. So the mission really is impossible.

Or maybe it's time Kampfer starts rethinking the hole thing.

since we're in the realms of fantasy...

Pygmy Warrior
https://www.knifecenter.com/item/SPFB29GPSBBK/spyderco-fb29gpsbbk-pygmy-warrior-combat-plain-and-serrated-double-edge-blade-g10-handles

From the description, I would think the customer base for that looks like a very small one.

The Warrior didn't last all too long in production either

The easiest way to convince Kam to get a Spydie, is for me to start ranting how overrated they are, how they don't perform any better than Byrd knives or any other cheaper brand for that matter, how the blade holes will collect gunk like a Skele blade, and that their fancy blade steels are essentially pointless for most users, prone to chipping, harder to sharpen and overpriced. He'll buy one just to prove me wrong  :D

I use a S35VN Para Military 2, so with that in mind, Kampfer's list vs zoidberg's folding spyderco want to tries...

Released this year the Left Handed Para Military 2. Or in a 'better' blade S110V Para Military 2.

Smaller version Para 3.

Bigger version S110V Military, Left Handed Military or Fluted Titanium Military. Down side is I don't really like liner locks.

Wouldn't mind trying out their ball bearing locks though S110V Manix 2. Not a looker but could function well.

Then from Taiwan there is the Mantra 2 and more expensively the Spydiechef.

Go on kampfer, pick one of them. They'll out perform that Gerber for sure. And you'll make my day.

Yeah it's their Premium Gator S30V with liner lock. I found the folding and fixed gators to be very wanting. Better steel on the fixed gator would have helped.

Yes, but is lock back with half stop.
A fine knife to use in hand, but chunky to carry.

What's wrong with the Seki City Spydercos?   That's most of what they make, and I see nothing wrong with them.

With all due respect, let it go.
Kampfer has already answered this politely, multiple times in this thread.
We really won't be discussing it here.

Oh and it seems Kam has already bought something but the K390 Urban is sweet. Thin grind on the blade makes it a super slicer, seems to hold an edge for a while and i am digging not having a lock to mess with when it is time to close.

Very much looking forward to the 110V UKPK coming out because it is a little bigger.

One of my local guys knew I am into the Spanish Navaja so he offered to sell me his out of box, never used never carried Spyderco Navaja.

I went check it out.
Aside from horrible ergonomic, broken carraca mechanism and high asking price, it has perfect fit and finish, S30V super sharp blade, smooth action, solid lock up, easy to carry.

Even-though I failed to see any resemblances between Spyderco's interpretation and traditional Spanish Navaja, but I think it definitely is a modern art masterpiece!

Kam,for what it's worth, here's my thoughts on the Spydercos:

I have a few now,and have handled a few more. I like the Ladybugs, but they are slightly too small, and far too expensive(and mines an H1,so that's a Seki blade).

I like the Dragonfly, but something slightly fails to fully satisfy. I bought mine from Grathr,so I payed well under list price, and TBH,I wouldn't pay list price.

I almost really like my Squirt...and again, not worth UK list price. For what it's worth,it's an Italian blade.

I do like my Persistance! Nice balance of size, weight, feel in the hand, but again, bought second hand. Only drawback is it's a bit bigger than I'd like for work carry.

Now,the Ambitious! That's the pick if the bunch for me! Ticks the same boxes as the Persistance, just a bit smaller, and a bit more cuddly. And yes,I bought this new. Touch overpriced, but not too bad. I know you won't go for this, but there you go!

If this were more open ended I'd say get a RAT 1 or 2. I love my RAT 2.

50ft-trad isn't far off on his remarks about Byrds, but the good ones are now Spyderco priced, and the cheap ones are cheaper in the hand than cheap Spydies. Mind you,I can find a Meadowlark for under £20. For that I can put up with the odd hardship ;)
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

I had this "Spyderco" since my early days of knife purchasing, my second folder.
Bob Lum's design, Chinese DaDao inspired blade shape and with my family name 林 printed on the blade.
Since everyone praise teh spyder hole so much I decided to give it a try.
But every time I look at it all I can see is a HOLE.
