Wenger/Victorinox metal saw?
on: February 15, 2017, 12:52:40 PM
Between this two metal saws, wich is better (more powerful, best cutting)?

I would like a Vic 84 metal saw but I think there isn't.

Would be possible to adapt a Wenger 85 mm or Victorinox 91mm into a Victorinox 84mm body?

Many thanks

Good question.
Do you mean the difference between the old style and the newer stainless versions?

I'm very curious myself. I've got and older version (ca1996) metal saw on my Handyman of which the tip started peeling without a reason (no abuse/use).
So I guess that's one of the mail differences.

The newer stainless steel metal saw is better in my opinion... used it a few times to file some stuff and shorten screws...

Never had experienced with 85mm version... wouldn't also know if they (91mm and 85mm) would fit on 84mm...

There is an 84mm metal file/saw: http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Victorinox+Master+Craftsman+Small. Long discontinued, unfortunately.

It's possible to fit a Wenger saw into an 84mm knife: http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,41486.0.html so I assume you could get the file in too.  The only current knife with the 85mm metal file/saw is the Evogrip S54, I think.

I suspect it would be possible to shorten a 91mm file to suit a 84mm wood saw backspring as well.

The newer stainless steel metal saw is better in my opinion... used it a few times to file some stuff and shorten screws...

Agreed.  It's much better than the old version.

I've not used the Wenger/Delemont file, but it looks similar to the new 91mm files in texture.
