Man Flu
on: February 14, 2017, 01:17:35 PM
Sorry if I have been a bit responsive over the past few days, I have been battling the ultra deadly man flu, and against all odds, I managed to survive.  I'm not 100% yet, but I am very much on the mend now.

Send some thoughts and prayers Whoey's way though, as his man flu has progressed to pneumonia.

Man Flu is a joke.  Yeah, I felt rough for a few days but I still went to the RV Show and did some other things over the weekend.  I believe rest will help, but you can't stop living just because you have a boo boo.  :P

Whoey has managed to get some antibiotics and says he is feeling some improvement so far which is great news, but he's still got a bit of a road ahead of him.

You don't bounce back as well when you get to his age....  :ahhh

Yeah, I'm doing OK.  I'm recovering but I'll be fine.

Micah says he is on a steady stream of antibiotics and was able to actually sleep through the night last night, for the first time in about a week.

Micah was in the hospital today- apparently the antibiotics they gave him weren't powerful enough, and landed him there.

When it comes to Micah, it takes a bloody major event for him to go to the doctor- I can only imagine how bad he felt to go to the hospital.

He's back home now, after the nurses and doctors tried to drain every drop of blood out of him.

Yikes.  Get better Micah.  This "bug" thats going around in my neck of the woods is pretty vicious.  So many people hacking cough and it not getting better.  I've have one friend who also had to go on antibiotics as a result of her cold lasting well into weeks.

Ugh I've had this crap for a few weeks now. I thought I was better last week but it's seemed to have relapsed.
I'll be glad when it finishes running its course.
This isn't the worst I've had. It it's definitely the longest version I've had.

Hang in there man- it can't last forever!

I've had a splitting headache all day which is odd for me.  I rarely get headaches, and when I do get them it is more often than not related to dehydration since I'm a mouth breather and my house is super dry.  I've put away a couple of gallons of water today to no effect.

I think it's time Megan has me put down or trade me in for a new model.....

I am alive. Mostly.

Yesterday was quite an adventure, and I went from 3x 1g per day to 1x 500mg per day of different antibiotics. (hell, yet to even take my second one yet...)

I feel a lot better, but have at least a week of "recovery" to go, but I almost feel like I can do stuff now.

My fevers are pretty light, but have medication to deal with that too.

Anyways much better then being a bedridden cocoon I was for about a week.

This thread is reminding me it is nearly time to get my annual 'flu shot.  I had one last year and managed to avoid the dreaded lurgy, so I'm willing to do it again this year.

antibiotics done, been to Doc, seem better, but still quite some recovering to do. Xrays in a month to verify, providing I don't lapse. In the meantime, slowly back into routine.

My wife just recovered from pneumonia. It started from a simple cold which later affected her sinuses then later was diagnosed to have asthma with pneumonia.
She had 2 chest x-rays  and blood tests to rule out any other form of upper respiratory tract infections. After all of these tests the doctor's diagnosis  of her is that she contracted 'walking pneumonia'. She, however, didn't experience the usual pneumonia symptoms i.e. fever, shortness of breath, fatigue, etc. She got well with antibiotic therapies, allergy meds, and asthma inhalers. At the moment, she is feeling fine but has still the small coughs and was given cough syrup. I thank God that she is now on her way to full recovery. Note that as we age our immune system weakens. Take care all.

I'm sorry to hear your wife was ill, but it is good that she is getting better!

I have not had pneumonia myself, but I have experienced it in other people, and I can honestly say that is one I would very much like to avoid.  I've been in fairly consistent contact with Micah through his bout of it, and I was pretty worried about him every day.

I can imagine what she went through. My experience was not a whole lot of fun, in fact I passed a fever of 40ºC (104ºF) at one point and was somewhat coherently delirious... Thankfully my wife was on hand and some of the leftover meds from when I had my wisdom tooth removed was all I needed to drop the fever down quickly. This was right before seeing my doctor and having the pneumonia diagnosed. After that the fevers were under control and the antibiotics did their thing. I was constantly pretty wiped out, and still to a degree, but I am slowly getting back to normal. I also had 2 chest xrays, a couple blood tests, a urine sample, and a blood culture to make sure it hadn't spread to my bloodstream.

Add that I have mild asthma, and have prescription allergy meds (that I rarely use), this became a complicated thing pretty quick.

I still have about a month before they do followup xrays to see if I'm cured, and I'm still coughing some crap up somewhat regularly.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.
